Mallow Camera Club Wins All-Ireland

Camera Clubs from all over Ireland took part in the Irish Photographic Federations National Club Finals held recently over two days in the Athlone Institute of Technology, Athlone. It is the biggest competitive event for amateur photographers in Ireland. The overall winning club for 2011 is Mallow Camera Club. Two of the clubs members are from Millstreet - Colman Culhane & Geraldine Dennehy.

Peg Healy’s Wonderful 80th Birthday

Peg Healy celebrated her 80th Birthday at her home in Murphy’s Terrace, Millstreet in the presence of her eleven children (pictured here), thirty grandchildren, sisters, brothers, family, neighbours and friends on Saturday, 7th May 2011.  We all wish the very popular, cheerful and wonderfully friendly Peg a very Happy Birthday.   Lots more pictures to follow later.

Brother Vincent Corkery Honoured in Millstreet

To mark recognition of the recent major award bestowed in Malayasia on Brother Vincent Corkery, a special function and presentation was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday, 6th May 2011. Brother Vincent is seated second from left with Fr. John Fitzgerald, P.P., Noel Buckley of Millstreet Community Council and Eily Buckley (sister of Brother Vincent). Also included are family members and friends.

Kate and William to wed in Kilcorney

While Kate Middleton was getting pampered in preparation for her wedding yesterday, bride-to-be Kate Buckley from Kilcorney in Cork was spending the eve of her big day making sure her dairy cows were milked, fed and happy before taking care of herself.
“I was supposed to get my nails done on Tuesday but it didn’t happen,” explained bride-to-be Kate.
Kate said they got engaged last year around August, and the royal couple announced their engagement a short time after.
Meanwhile, Kate’s fiance and fellow dairy farmer William Casey, from Berrings, was also spending the day farming with his father in Inniscarra.

Easter Commemoration at the Square on Easter Sunday

Tony Lane from Kinsale (on right of commemorative wreath) delivered an excellent address at Millstreet's National Monument on Easter Sunday 2011. The annual event was attended by a large gathering blessed with good weather. Millstreet Pipe Band, as always, added so much to the important occasion. Sarah’s Cake Sale This Morning – A Wonderful Success!

Sarah Meaney serving scrumptiously delicious baking to Kathleen O'Connor at her hugely successful Cake Sale in the Square, Millstreet this morning. Also included are four of her very dedicated helpers/bakers. The uplifting event realised an amazing €755.00 in the two hours. All these funds will assist Sarah in her inspiring mission when she later travels to Romania in aid of the very worthy oragnisation "Comber" which works for a future without orphanages.

Every Wednesday at Millstreet Library from 11.00 a.m. until 12.00 noon an enthusiastic group of people interested in the Irish Language assemble for an hour discussing and exploring different interesting issues of Irish culture and more. A very successful Fashion Show was held at Millstreet Community School on Thursday, 7th April 2011. Bob Emprimo from America presents the "Clara Toys" Doll to Seán Radley for Millstreet Museum at "Nibbles Food Emporium", West End, Millstreet on Friday, 1st April 2011.

Young People Inspire at Cullen National Spring Clean 2011

Pupils of Cullen N.S. with Teachers, Parents and Friends participating in the National Spring Clean in Cullen on Friday, 1st April 2011 - setting a truly inspiring example of civic pride in our own community.

Millstreet Pipe Band 60th Anniversary Function – An Outstanding Success

Liam Coffey & Tim O'Shea cut the special Millstreet Pipe Band 60th Anniversary Cake at the hugely successful Function held at the Dromhall Hotel, Killarney on Saturday, 26th March 2011. Tim and Liam are the two longest serving members of the renowned Band. Lots more pictures to follow later.

Contract Signed for St. Patrick’s Church Painting Project
