While no longer cheffing for a living, Trevis still enjoys cooking. With that in mind, we introduce him to a number of local artisan food producers, and using their products, he tells us how to properly cook fish.

Audio: Boil Water Notice and Millstreet Ambulance discussed on Cork Today

Millstreet news items were the topic of conversation when Cllr. John Paul O’Shea spoke to Patricia Messenger on the C103’s CorkToday, this morning. Two different topics were discussed (listen to them above):

  • The boil water notice for tap water in Millstreet, and communication issues with Irish Water (from 22:00 to 30:30), and
  • the removal of the ambulance service from the Millstreet area since last Wednesday which was done with no prior notice, and no consultation with anyone (from 30:30 to 37:00)

More on the Millstreet Ambulance: The Millstreet ambulance was originally withdrawn over two years ago, and reinstated temporarily 15 months ago after public pressure, and only a day service at that (8am to 8pm).

New Style of Mission on “Where the Road Takes Me” Sunday at 7pm

We thank Radio Presenter, John Greene for advance information on his Sunday Evening Programme of 13th Nov. 2016.  (S.R.).  John writes:

“He was known as an enforcer for organised crime gangs in London’s East End. His boss was a major drugs lord, who had taken over the business vacated by the infamous Kray twins.

John Pridmore never left home without his machete, knuckle dusters and can of mace. He had money to burn, fast cars, girls, expensive apartments, any drugs he required, and respect of a kind.

Fast forward to November of this year, and John Pridmore and his fellow lay missioners have just delivered the parish mission in Bishopstown.

This week on ‘Where the road takes me’, John Greene pays a visit to Dennehy’s Cross church, to hear about a new style of parish mission, completely unlike the hellfire and brimstone ones of old. [read more …] “New Style of Mission on “Where the Road Takes Me” Sunday at 7pm”

“Where the Road Takes Me” on C103 This Sunday 23rd Oct. at 7pm

We thank Presenter supreme, John Greene for the latest update on his Sunday evening programmes.  (S.R.)

This week on “Where the road takes me”, we bring you ‘From Bantry to Dublin on foot – The farmer’s protest march of 1966’. This is the concluding programme which tells the story of 16 West Cork farmers who left the Square in Bantry and walked 217 miles to Dublin. It was the pivotal walk in a nationwide protest by farmers against rates, low incomes and high prices.

This week we meet Jim Morris, Jackie o’Sullivan and Johnny o’Sullivan, three of the five remaining members of the NFA who departed Bantry on Fair Day, Friday October 7th.

We hear how one of the 16 was later praised by Gardaí for diffusing a potentially volatile situation outside the gates of Government Buildings in Dublin.

We hear the final extracts from a diary written by the late Seán O’Brien during the walk

And……….

C103 presenter Jimmy Reidy reflects on an early morning trip to Limerick with his neighbours, to picket the jail in protest at the imprisonment of farmers during the road blockades and commodity strike. [read more …] ““Where the Road Takes Me” on C103 This Sunday 23rd Oct. at 7pm”
