Internet & Email Training Course by IRD Duhallow

IRD Duhallow is currently organising an Internet and Email Training Course which will commence on the 1st of March and will run one night a week for seven weeks in the James O’ Keeffe Institute, Newmarket from 7p.m. to 9p.m. The module is designed to provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge required to access a website, use a web browser, access web addresses, search engines, email, Internet Security, Social Networking etc. will also be covered. Only a very basic knowledge of computers is required from participants. The total course cost per participant is €30. Nora Herlihy Conference at Newmarket on 2nd December 2011

IRD Duhallow will host their annual conference in conjunction with the Duhallow Women’s Forum on Friday  2nd December, entitled “The Role of Rural Women in a Recession – A Conference in honour of Nora Herlihy – Credit Union Pioneer” Guest Speakers on the day include Orlaith Carmody former RTE Journalist and director of Mediatraining.ie, Nicole Byrne founder of 11890 Ltd. also we will be having representatives from the Credit Union Movement, UCC and IRD Duhallow. In addition and importantly at this event Jimmy Deenihan TD & Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs will launch “The Origins, Ethos and Evolution of Co-operative Credit in Ireland – Celebrating the Centenary of the Birth of Nora Herlihy”

IRD Duhallow LIFE+ Project Officially Launched in Newmarket

Mr. Phil Hogan, T.D., Minister for the Environment, Community & Local Government, raises the official flag to launch the IRD Duhallow LIFE+ Project at the James O'Keeffe Institute, Newmarket today (Friday, 8th July 2011). We shall be uploading a full feature on the historic occasion over the next few days. The event was also fully recorded by LTV2 Millstreet for later transmission in the Autumn schedule. (S.R.)

Seeking Employment? Two IRD Duhallow Workshops to Assist

Are you at present seeking Employment?

Job Search Strategy & Skills Workshop which will enable participants to Learn to Tap into the hidden Jobs Market; Develop Techniques for Effective Networking; Telephone Techniques to secure an in Interview; Source suitable Potential Employers using Career Decisions unique Virtual Career Centre. Additionally participants will be shown the smart way to job hunt in today’s fast moving environment and develop methods for researching employers.

Interview Skills Workshop which will help participants learn how to prepare for meeting with prospective employers. Participants will learn techniques for reducing pre-interview nerves; identify Interview Checklist of Dos and Don’ts and also learn about grooming and Dress Guidelines.

IRD Duhallow Information Meeting at Wallis Arms Hotel

Helen O'Sullivan (with book) of IRD Duhallow was at the Wallis Arms Hotel, Millstreet on Wednesday, 17th Nov. 2010 where she gave a very interesting and most informative presentation to a representative audience from the overall Millstreet area on the regulations governing the availability of grants from IRD Duhallow funding. The audience (some of whom are pictured here) were able to explore a whole range of relevant questions following Helen's very useful talk to which concrete answers were given. (Seán)

Interested in accessing Certified Training Courses? IRD Duhallow has been successful in its application for funding under the Equality for Women Measure 2010 – 2013. We intend to hold two information seminars detailing the proposed Workshops and Certified Training Courses for women that we anticipate to run.
