Millstreet Library will be hosting Creative Writing for adults with Matthew Geden, Writer in Residence, Library & Arts Services on Wednesday 30th November at 11 00 am.

 Do you love to write? Want to try? Fiction, poetry, it matters not.  Do you want feedback on your ideas & to improve your writing skills? Join the Creative Writing Group where you will meet informally to talk about your writings, improve your skills, & to offer encouragement to one another.

“Make One Change” Cork County Cuts Carbon

Join us in Millstreet Library Tuesday 15th November at 2 – 3 pm to explore ways to make positive changes for you & the environment.  James O’Donovan is an engineer & environmental educator who runs climate & biodiversity workshops in CEF’s outreach & educational programmes.

In this workshop he will be exploring enablers & barriers to make change & what you can do now that will be good for you & also for the environment.

Calendar Colouring Competition

 

Hello Everyone,

October has arrived and it’s time to roll out the Cork County Council Library & Arts Service “calendar colouring competition”.

The theme for our 2023 calendar is ‘Our Library: A welcome for all’

Details are on the attached poster and every entry MUST be accompanied by an application form. Please drop in your entries into Millstreet Library before November 8th.

Millstreet Library – Age Friendly Group

Millstreet Library would like to set up an “Age Friendly Group” (55+ years) in the library who would meet up on the last Friday of every month at 11 00 am.  This would be an informal gathering & give people (55+ years) the opportunity to meet for a chat/ tell a story/ do a quiz/ jigsaw puzzle/ game of cards or even if you wanted to sing a song!

First meeting will take place Friday, 30th September 2022 at 11 00 am.

As part of the Summer Stars Programme Cork County Council Library & Arts Service ran a “Design A Library Card” Competition. The winners from Millstreet Library are:

Millstreet library are delighted to inform you that the “Summer Star Reading Certificates” are now ready for collection at Millstreet Library.

Here is Ben Buckley receiving his Certificate of Achievement for all the reading he did this summer.  Ben was the first to collect his certificate.

Last date for registration in the Summer Stars Reading Programme is August 27th.

Please do not forget to hand in your Reading Card to the library as the draw for the Summers Stars Competition will take Saturday 3rd September.

Also please collect your Summer Stars Award Certificates in the Library.

Design a Children’s Library Card

Cork County Council Library & Arts Service are inviting you to Design a Children’s Library Card on the theme of “I Love Reading”.

Would you like to see your design on a Library card? Now is your chance.

Pick up an entry form from Millstreet library.  All entries must be returned to the library by Friday, August 19th 2022.

There are two age categories: 6 – 8 years & 9 – 12 years so plenty of chances to win.  There will be local prizes of €10 book tokens & an overall prize of €50 book tokens.  The overall winning designs will feature on our new library cards!

There are lots of great Art & Craft books available at the library to help you find your inspiration.

Storygate in Millstreet Library

Join puppeteer Michael Phelan & Simone Schuemmelfeder from Storygate in Millstreet Library for a great show the whole family can enjoy.  Gentle & funny stories about family & friendship will be told in combination with fantastic puppetery.

Show takes place Tuesday 19th July at 10 30 am & the duration will be 30 – 40 minutes.
