Millstreet Library is buzzing with excitement this summer.
We are thrilled to bring together two of our favourite things: the joy of reading and the thrill of hurling. Our new display celebrates both the Summer Stars Adventure for children and the Cork senior hurling team’s journey to the All-Ireland final.
This summer, young readers can dive into a world of adventure with our amazing collection of books. Whether they are exploring far-off lands, solving mysteries, or meeting fascinating characters, there’s a book for every curious mind. The Summer Stars Adventure encourages children to discover the magic of reading, earn rewards, and develop a lifelong love for books.
At the same time, we are rallying behind our Cork senior hurling team as they prepare for the All-Ireland final. The display features a fantastic mix of books and hurling memorabilia, celebrating the dedication, teamwork, and passion that both reading and sports inspire.
Visit Millstreet Library to check out the wonderful display & immerse yourself in the excitement.
Let’s make this a summer to remember with unforgettable stories and thrilling sportsmanship! Rebels Abú.

Millstreet Library – Anyone 4 Science Workshop
Today in Millstreet Library, young scientists, explored the magic of Roald Dahl’s “The BFG” through a science workshop hosted by Cian from Anyone 4 Science. The children created dream jar lava lamps using oil, water, food colouring and fizzing tablets. The vibrant, floating bubbles captured the essence of dreams coming to life, blending literature and science into an enchanting, hands-on experience. Here is a photo of the children with their magical creations.

Millstreet Library – The little Library Bag Initiative
Cork County Library and Arts Service are delighted to introduce out little Library Bag initiative. My little library aims to provide a book bag and potential library membership to every 4- and 5- year-old starting school in September 2024 by presenting the child with their My little Library Bag in the library and inviting them to join the library if they are not already a member.
Check out Donnacha who was the first child to receive My Little Library Bag in Millstreet Library this year.
Our goal is to foster a love for books and support early literacy in our community. We believe that every child should have access to the joy and knowledge that reading brings.
Everybody is welcome in the library. Membership is Free.
