Wonderfully Impressive Knitting Project at Derrinagree N.S.

Derrinagree N.S. organised a superb exhibition of just some of the splendid creations brought to reality by its recent hugely impressive Knitting Project.  This is just one of many images  we shall be featuring on this marvellous Primary School activity where a number of very skilled and creative ladies from the locality have been visiting the school weekly to teach the excellent skill of knitting to the many children at different class levels.

On Tuesday night, 17th December 2013 Kilcorney N.S. held their annual Christmas Nativity. During the performance they held a collection for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. A monetary donation and selection boxes were donated by the community to Angela Bourke (a local St. Vincent de Paul representative).

Christmas Pagent at St.Brendan’s NS Rathcoole

There was a great day (and night) of entertainment yesterday (18th Dec) with two performances of the Christmas Pageant at St.Brendan’s NS Rathcoole where the children did everyone proud. Here are two video clips of the preformances. “Mad Hair” Day Supporting the Philippines

These very generous and wonderfully talented young people from the Rathcoole area joyously participated in Friday's National "Mad Hair" Day which took place in Primary Schools in support of the many people affected by the hugely challenging typhoon in the Philippines during this past year.   Great musicians and marvellous at debating these young Students are indeed most inspiring and so willing to think of others.  Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Primary Schools Halloween Disco – thank you

A big Thank You to everyone that helped and attended the Millstreet Schools Parents Association Disco last night. Thanks to all our sponsors, Reens Pharmacy, Colemans, Millstreet Post Office, Wordsworth, Mulcahys Pharmacy, Murphys Furniture, Duggans Hardware, SuperValu Millstreet & Herlihy’s Centra, for their very generous hampers and gifts for the raffle. The night was very enjoyable for all who attended and we raised over €1,700.00 for schools.

Millstreet B.N.S. Delighted with Splendid New Astro Turf Amenity

Although it began to rain as we took our pictures today (24th Oct. 2013) it is clearly evident how very thrilled the young Students are with this marvellous new sporting amenity. Wonderful Retirement Reception for Pat Breen at Wallis Arms Hotel

Retirement Reception for Pat Breen on 21st June 2013

Millstreet INTO organised a superb reception at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday, 21st June 2013 to mark the retirement of Pat Breen.   Excellent speeches were delivered by Joan O'Mahony (Principal, Presentation N.S.) and Brendan O'Sullivan, National President of the INTO.  Pat expressed his sincere thanks to the Organisers, his wife, Mary and Family who were among the large attendance, the Hotel Staff and Management and all who made the various presentations. Following the many activities organised by Millstreet N.S. Parents' Association a very impressive cheque for €4,000.00 to be divided equally between Millstreet B.N.S. and Presentation N.S. was officially handed over today at Scoil Mhuire, Millstreet B.N.S..  From left: Kate Twomey (Treasurer, Millstreet Parents' Association), Frank O'Connor (Principal, Millstreet B.N.S.), Anne O'Sullivan (Chairperson), Joan O'Mahony (Principal, Presentation N.S.), Janice Sheehan (Secretary). Dancing Derek Inspires Great Enthusiasm at Physical Education Workshop

Professional Dancing Tutor, Derek Long from Co. Wicklow, has been inspiring the enthusiastic pupils of Scoil Mhuire, Millstreet BNS for the past school term with his fun-filled and excellent dance movements as part of the school's Physical Education programme.   The children truly enjoy the many creative activities and uplifting music.   LTV2 recorded sequences from this morning's workshop - this will be transmitted in the Autumn schedule.   We thank Principal Frank O'Connor and Staff as well as Derek for permitting us to share the marvellous approach to this health promoting aspect of Primary Education.  (S.R.)

Superb Road Safety Workshop for Millstreet Primary Schools

Over the past two days Millstreet Primary Schools have been attending a superb Road Safety Workshop in Millstreet G.A.A. Community Hall with two wonderful Instructors - Rachel and Brian.  The very important messages of Road Safety were communicated in such a brilliant and helpful manner.  This Scheme is nationwide.  We recorded a brief sequence also for LTV2's Autumn schedule.  (S.R.)
