Considering that we shall be hosting the European Juggling Convention and the European Pony Championships this Summer it's important that the town will be in full colourful bloom for those exciting events. Millstreet Tidy Town Website Updates

Important updates have been added to our Millstreet Tidy Town website regarding ‘Dog Fouling’ in Millstreet. We ask you all to visit our website and read these publications and put them into practice in our Town Park and throughout Millstreet.
We also advise residents of Murphy’s Terrace, Tanyard Wood and McCarthy Terrace that your area will be inspected by judges for the Anti- Litter Challenge 2014. Best Garden and Frontage Competition Awards on Wednesday, 25th Sept. 2013 at 8.30 pm in Wallis Arms Hotel

Sonia Celebrates Millstreet Tidy Towns National Awards Success

On our return journey from the All-Ireland Tidy Towns at the Helix Theatre in Dublin we happened to meet at the Avoca Complex in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin,  Sonia O'Sullivan who was delighted to hear of Cobh and Millstreet's success at the prestigious annual awards.  Click on the images to enlarge.   (S.R.)
On our return journey from the All-Ireland Tidy Towns Awards event at the magnificent Helix Theatre in Dublin today we happened to meet in the afternoon at the Avoca Store & Cafés near the Naas Road in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, Sonia O’Sullivan (world-famous athlete and sports ambassador supreme originally from Cobh) who was delighted to hear of the success of Cobh and Millstreet at the prestigious annual awards. Tidy Town Results 2013

2013-09 Tidy Towns logo The SuperValu Tidy Towns results for 2013 have just been announced. Millstreet have gained another point this year to reach 296 points in total. Summary of Millstreet results are:

  • 296 points, up from 295 in 2012
  • A Bronze Medal has been awarded to Millstreet
  • 1st position in Category D in North Cork
  • 4th overall in North Cork

We are delighted to announce that Millstreet has topped our category in the Cork Anti-Litter Campaign 2013. This is a great achievement and we thank all our members, volunteers and Fas Community Employment workers for all their hard work during the past few months.
National Tidy Towns Results will be announced next Monday and we hope we do just as well in this competition.

Millstreet is First in its Category in tonight’s Anti-Litter Awards

Derry Sheehan of Millstreet Tidy Towns Association just communicated the wonderfully uplifting news that Millstreet has just come first in its category in Co. Cork  Anti-litter Awards.   Sincere congratulations to the many very dedicated people who have helped to achieve such a prestigious Award.   And who knows perhaps that in Monday's All-Ireland Tidy Towns Awards in Dublin Millstreet might receive further uplifting news...let's hope that whatever happens there it will provide inspiring encouragement.   The beauty of Millstreet was projected briefly on "Nationwide" on Wednesday night - The complete feature on Millstreet Country Park will air on RTÉ One's "Nationwide" at 7.00 pm this Friday, 6th Sept. 2013. Millstreet considered for 2013 Tourism Towns Award

Millstreet is among 45 towns and villages from across the country being considered for the 2013 Tourism Towns Award.  The award, now in its second year, is designed to recognise Irish towns and villages where the local community goes the extra mile to enhance their appeal to tourists.

The top ten “Highly Commended Tourism Towns” will be announced at the National Tidy Towns Awards later in year with the overall winner to be announced by Fáilte Ireland in November.

Presentation N.S. Celebrates Its Tidy Towns Local Award

Cork County Council Anti Litter Challenge 2012 – final results

Millstreet finished a creditable third in the top division of the Cork Anti Litter Challenge 2012. After a terrible first week score which left us in last position, Millstreet had the best cumulative score from the second and third weeks to climb into third position. Well done and a big thanks to everyone that bent their backs to pick up rubbish and make Millstreet a cleaner place to live in, and also those that made the effort to take their rubbish home with them!

Millstreet Tidy Towns Local Awards at Wallis Arms Hotel

Richly deserving recipients of Millstreet Tidy Towns Association’s Local Awards at a special reception earlier tonight (Wednesday, 12th Sept. 2012) in the Wallis Arms Hotel.    International Helpers were presented with prestigious Certificates.   Colman Culhane indicated that Millstreet now rates 11th in Co.Cork which has entries of close to 100.  While receiving a Bronze Medal was much appreciated this year, Colman said that if our town has just two more marks it would have been a Silver Medal!  (S.R.)

Millstreet Gains Four Extra Marks … and a Bronze Medal in National Tidy Towns Competition 2012

Millstreet has gained an extra Four Marks plus a Bronze Medal in the National Tidy Towns Competition results of which were announced in Dublin today.  We thank Patsy Corcoran of Millstreet Tidy Towns Association for this uplifting update and we congratulate all concerned on such wonderful continuing success.  (S.R.)

Tidy Towns 2012 Results

A big congratulations to the Millstreet Town Committee for all their hard work which this year achieved a further increase in their points total at the National Tidy Towns Awards 2012 which were announced today. Millstreet won a National Bronze Medal Award of €400 in Category D (population of 2,500 to 5000) with a score of 295 points. We also won Category D for Cork North (well ahead of Fermoy, Mitchelstown and Charleville), and finished second overall in Cork North only to previous national champions Coolagown, and our committee were ‘Highly Commended’. The winner nationally was Abbeyshrule, Co Longford who had a score of 312 points. Below is the report for Millstreet:
