Road Bowling: Tom Browne won the Gerald Healy Cup final at Kilcorney where he beat Kevin Ruby in the last shot (1st Dec). They were locked together in the early stages. GAA: Best of luck to Niall Kelleher from Aubane who has been appointed selector to the Cork U21 footballers next year. Niall has previously been coach for Duhallow Seniors, and Cork Juniors 2010 & 2011, winning the All-Ireland in his second year in charge.

Humphery Kelleher Cup: The finals of the Humphery Kelleher U15 Munster Football will take place in Millstreet next Saturday July 13th. Preliminary rounds will be held in Knocknagree and Dromtarriffe, with the losers final at 2:30pm, and the final proper at 3:45, both games in the Town Park.

On the same day, Shane Hickey and Padraig Moynihan play for Cork in the Munster U14 competition in Waterford, and Cathal Crowley plays for Cork in the Munster U16 competition in Limerick. Full details of these competitions is on the Cork GAA website

Athletics: The Willie Neenan 10k Memorial Run was held last Friday July 5th as part of the Gathering Festival. There was an impressive 188 finishers. Intermediate Senior Munster Camogie Match Postponed Due to Inclement Weather

Intermediate Senior Munster Camogie Match which was scheduled to have been played in Rathmore G.A.A. Grounds on tomorrow, Saturday, 26th January 2013 at 2.00 pm, has been postponed due to inclement weather.   Notice regarding the rescheduled Match will be be announced when known.   We thank Teacher Barry Fraser at Millstreet Community School for this important update.    (S.R.)

Millstreet Camogie Minor and U16 Teams and trainers were kindly presented with Fleece Jackets on Saturday night, by Frank and Derry Casey of Southcoast Sales who are Ireland’s sole distributor of Philmac plumbing and Farho Electric Heaters. Frank who is originally from Cloughula is a first cousin of Millstreet Camogie Clubs Joan Casey. Frank and his son Derry had been following the clubs exploits during the year and were highly impressed with the skill and dedication shown by the girls which resulted in the U16 team defeated by 1 point in the county final and the Minor team won their county final by a margin of 29 points.

Millridge Paddy (for Donie O’Mahony) was unfortunately bumped out of it at the first bend and finished in fifth, in the final of the Kasko Dogfood Sweepstake (Grade : A2) Flat 500 with a time of 28.01 in Tralee on Friday (9th Nov) [result] See the video below. Donie had a number of other also-rans running on the night, but none figured.

Cleanaway Podge again was very slow out of the traps, but made his way up from last to third with another good run after the second bend, missing out on the big money at Cork on Saturday night in the Dixie Neenan Memorial Final (Grade : A3 Flat 525). [result] see the video below

Singleton Cup Final (Duhallow Junior A league – div 2): Newmarket 0-15 Millstreet 2-12, in Castlemagner, 1pm Sun 14th Oct. – a brace of goals in the second half from Kevin Sheehan who moved from wing back to full forward at half time swung the game for Millstreet.[match reports in the corkman(1), the corkman(2)]

Donncha O’Riordan was on the Malmo GAA (Sweden) which team which lost in the final of the European Gaelic Football Shield to Zurich in Vienna (Austria) over the weekend

Rallying: Paul Drake big brother of Charlie (both from Rathcoole) had his first rally over the weekend at the Bega Valley Rally in New South Wales, Australia. Driving a ford Escort, and with Charlie as co-driver he brought her home safely and finishing first in his class.
