Duhallow Sciath na Scol Hurling Champions

🏆Duhallow Sciath na Scol Hurling Champions🏆
A massive well done to our Boys Hurling team who did their school and parish proud as they were crowned the 15 a-side hurling champions on a lovey day in Banteer. The boys took on a strong Ballyhass team but came out with a very deserving win and the title.
Thanks to the great bunch of parents who came out to support the boys.
A special thanks to Frank O’Conor, Colm O’Leary, and Michael McCarthy for their hard work in the training and support of the boys that truly showed on the day 💯🙌💯

Teddy McCarthy in Millstreet Town Park

On the day that Cork G.A.A. legend, Teddy McCarthy was laid to rest, it brings to mind the time he played in Millstreet Town Park on St. Patrick’s Day, 1992. Teddy was one of a number of intercounty footballers, which included many local names, who played in a fundraiser match for Dan O Donoghue when he sustained his serious spinal injury. What a team line-out regardless of which side of the county bounds your loyalties lay! Rest in peace, Teddy. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís 🇲🇨

Superb Victory Social at Wallis Arms Hotel Last Saturday

The hugely successful Duarigle Gaels & Millstreet Juvenile GAA Victory Social was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Saturday, 4th March where special Sports Stars, Conor O’Callaghan and Darragh Cashman presented the talented Under 14 and Under 17 Players with their prestigious medals.   Further Guests included two representatives from Cork GAA who addressed the large gathering.   Great credit is due to the Organising Team ensuring a wonderful Victory Social where the Management and Staff of the Wallis Arms Hotel prepared a superbly colourful setting, provided a truly splendid meal and arranged a marvellous Disco with music supplied by Ronan O’Leary.   Two most impressive Hampers were won at the event.  Here we share our first of two selection of images from the outstanding occasion.   Tap on the 35 pictures to enlarge.  (S.R.) Enthusiastically Supporting Darragh in the Final

On Wednesday, 15th Feb. 2023 at 4pm a Coach left Millstreet for Waterford in support of Darragh Cashman who is a member of the UL (University of Limerick) Team which had reached the Final against UCC in the prestigious 24th Sigerson Cup Match at the WIT Sports Campus.   Among the enthusiastic group who travelled to Waterford were Darragh’s parents and family.   Weather conditions were hugely challenging as witnessed in the TG4 Live Television coverage and as described in newspapers such as “The Irish Times” which mentioned the driving rain and howling wind and extra time where Darragh played a pivotal role as described: “A topsy-turvy encounter swung back in UCC’s favour as they regained the lead late on before Darragh Cashman’s 65th-minute equaliser for UL which forced extra-time, 0-15 to 1-12.  Cashman wore number 35 on his back and thwarted UCC’s number 35, Michael O’Gara, who suspected he may have won it for the Cork side a couple of minutes earlier.”  See full “Irish Times” Report HERE.

We thank Gillian O’Sullivan-Linehan for very kindly making available the following superb images which truly illustrate how the enthusiastic Supporters braved the challenging weather conditions to witness Darragh’s magnificent game.   Although UCC were victorious with a three point margin in the end, Darragh and his Team Members must take a huge bow for such a remarkable performance and for almost winning the Sigerson Cup.   Tap on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)
