Los Zarcos FC are bringing underage soccer back to Millstreet Town park

“ We are delighted to announce that Los Zarcos FC are bringing underage soccer back to Millstreet Town park for the 21/22 Season”

We hope to field teams in both the Cork
School Boys League and Cork School Girls League.

We will create a football academy for Boys  and Girls from Under 6 through to Under 9
and Under 10 and Under 11.

Then for Under 12 through to under 16 they will train with their individual team.

We hope this will be a great opportunity for the children of Millstreet and the surrounding area to be able to play underage soccer locally for the first time in years.

For these teams to be successful we will need to get additional coaches and volunteers involved with the club.

If you or your child would like to join Los Zarcos FC Underage teams please contact one of the following:
Ronan Galvin (087  9492958)
Club Secretary
Cian O Mahony (087 7513272)
Child Welfare Officer

Could you please contact one of the above officers to register your child ASAP to allow us to plan accordingly depending on the numbers at each age group.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to exciting times ahead for soccer in Millstreet.

Yours in Sport

Los Zarcos FC”

Thanks very much,
Denny

MCS Presentation to Soccer Player Supreme Ciarán O’Sullivan of Cullen

Millstreet Community Student Third Year student, Ciarán O’Sullivan from Mologhroe, Cullen has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-15 Squad.  They travel to Spain next week for three matches against Spain, the Netherlands and Hungary.  Ciarán, who plays with Mallow United, is the sole Cork, and indeed Munster, representative to have been selected for this prestigious tournament and he is expected to earn his first cap for Ireland during the week.  On Friday morning (25th Jan. 2019) School Principal Pól Ó Síodhcháin in the presence of the Student Assembly and Staff presented Ciarán with a special certificate on behalf of the school.  He had his Ireland jersey with him and some of the School’s own soccer team kitted out for the occasion.   Ciarán’s mother, Marie, was also present for the uplifting occasion.  We extend sincere congratulations to the wonderfully talented Ciarán on such a magnificent sporting achievement.   We thank Principal Pól for alerting us to the presentation and for providing the background information.   Here we share a selection of some twelve images from the special event.   Even a splendid rainbow appeared over the School following the occasion!  Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.) U-16 Open with a Win!

The Community School Under 16 soccer outfit under new coach Mr O’Síodhcháin hit the ground running and began the Munster with an emphatic win at the Town park on Monday, October 22nd. Eoin Guiney had a hat-trick before the break, and scored again in the second half in a game that was never in doubt. Opponents Newcastlewest got one back at 3-0, but Guiney’s fourth meant their second was only a consolation . Millstreet now eagerly await their next game, the Munster quarter final. [1]

Dramatic win in Mitchelstown for Millstreet Community School Senior Soccer Team

Millstreet Community School senior soccer team bounced back from a heavy loss in their first group match in Castleisland to beat St. Fanahan’s, in Mitchelstown, 5-4 in the John Murphy Cup.  The win means they progress to the knockout stages of the competition and now face another tough away assignment against Schull Community College.

Having taken a two goal lead courtesy of the brace from Lael Tambwe, St. Fanahan’s battled back to take a 4-2 lead.  However, with ten minutes to go the Millstreet students began their remarkable fightback.  The third goal was scored by captain Colm O’Leary.  Then it was the turn of two of the substitutes to play their part.  Daniel Dennehy and Mateusz Ozaist both found the net, the last goal coming with virtually the final kick of the game.

It was a really spirited team performance and all the panel should be proud of their efforts.
