U21 Championship: Millstreet 1-7 Kanturk 0-9
MILLSTREET produced a ripple of a surprise to shade matters over Kanturk in the opening round to the Duhallow U21FC played in Millstreet last Friday night.
For long stages, a sharper Millstreet looked the more complete side, their passing, teamwork and workrate commendable. Holding a two point interval advantage, Millstreet doubled their advantage upon the resumption.
However, Kanturk summoned a brave comeback and came ever so close to forcing the game into extra time. Millstreet’s game demanded a brand of defiance and they had it in abundance during the closing stages to swing matters.

The Pride of Rathcoole Annmarie
A beautiful young woman with blue eyes and shoulder length wavy hair of brown
She lives between Banteer Village and Millstreet Town
The Pride of Rathcoole Annmarie
One who does sing so beautifully.
.
She is surely a princess of song
One could listen to her all night long
Her voice so soulful, melodious and clear
More of her doubtless we will hear.
.
Annmarie O Riordan remember her name
For her’s will be more than a Duhallow wide fame
With youth and beauty and a great voice and time on her side
She could become famed Worldwide.
.
The gift of song is a marvellous thing
The songstress who does love to sing
And she is not yet in her prime
She will only get better with time.
.
How could one with her but not feel impressed
To possess such a singing voice she is truly blessed
In her fan club she now does have me
Go sing it again Annmarie.

March Horse Fair next Sunday
The March Horse fair is with us again this Sunday February 28th. So be warned and expect to get stuck through town, and not be able to get parking either!
from the Corkman:
Millstreet will come to a standstill on Sunday for its Annual Spring Horse Fair. Despite the passage of time with modern trends surfacing, the hosting has lost none of its crowd pulling appeal for patrons young and old drawn from all over the province.
Millstreet Horse Fair maintains its glamour as a social occasion and an outlet to renew acquaintances with friends. Crowds and attractions have steadily risen over recent years with reservations expressed by gardaí and the local authority to growing difficulties.
A number of restrictions will again be put in place with the aim of providing safety measures that will alleviate potential accidents and reduce traffic chaos that had become a growing hinderance not only on fair day but also on the previous days.
Sure, we’d miss it if it wasn’t on!
