Disappointing Night for GAA Teams

2010-06-26 Michael Vaughan scores a goal against Tullylease

Tonight in Kanturk, two local teams were defeated in their respective championship games.

In the Duhallow Junior B County Qualifier Final St Johns were beaten by Kilbrin on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-6.

Afterwards in the Junior A Hurling Championship, Millstreet were defeated by Banteer on a scoreline of 1-18 to 0-12. A sharper Banteer side deserving their victory due to their ability to take their chances throughout the match. The first half was relatively even though Banteer lead by 1-9 to 0-8 at the break, but Millstreet will rue their many missed chances in the second half while their game when they still had a chance to get back into the game, while Banteer seemed to score with every chance.

Update 2010-06-05: However, there was good news  from the underage teams playing in the county. Results were:

  • Fé 14 B county quarter-finals: Millstreet 2-16 Thomas Russells 2-8
  • County Premier 1 Minor Football League Group 2: Millstreet 1-15 Youghal 2-8
