Regional Report 1030 – 14th September 2010

by

Eily Buckley

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to news report 1030 from Millstreet

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this wet and soft Autumn  morning.

We got a great psychological boost here this past week when an Australian film company came to make a documentary on the history of the EuroVision Song Contest and the places that hosted it. Niamh Kavanagh herself came too. They all stayed locally in Michael & Pam Thorntons beautiful new B ‘n B at Drishanebeg. They told us that there is more positive talk about Millstreet around the world than any other place that hosted it. It was different, it was great, and it was their reason for coming back to recall it all again. Cameras rolled  as  volumes of memorabilia  so lovingly preserved, were brought to light and stories of the whole euphoria were told again. Niamh wanted to meet everybody, shake every hand, hug everybody. It was as she said, like coming home. All too soon their three days were gone and they had to leave, but the memories and friendships live on. Lots of their visit was captured for LTV2, so you’ll see them in time. Look up our website also and in time we will get a copy of their entire documentary.
