Fr. Bernard Dennehy of New Zealand Visits Millstreet

Denis Murphy of Cahirdowney, Millstreet accords a royal welcome to Fr. Bernard Dennehy from New Zealand whose grandfather, Michael, came from Cahirdowney and emigrated to New Zealand c. 1880. Fr. Bernard visited Millstreet for the very first time today and met many local people who made him feel so very much at home. He attended Fr. J. Fitzgerald's 10.00 a.m. Mass on Tuesday, 19th Oct. 2010 and we arranged to give him a tour of the area. We ended the day at Tullig House where he was so thrilled to meet Mary Cashman with sons Donal and Michael. Fr. Bernard had known the late Fr. Michael Cashman of Tullig House who devoted his priestly life to the people of New Zealand. (Seán)

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to news report 1035 from Millstreet.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this very calm morning following a wet night.

Many congratulations to the lovely Angela McAuliffe, Mount Leader, on winning the €1,000 cash-call on C103 last week.

And every good wish to the lovely Áine Collins who has thrown her hat into the ring for Fine Gael in the next General Election. She can be assured of our every support.

The National Dairy Show was a great success at the Green Glens Arena on Saturday, and much thanks for its success goes as usual to our own local organisers. They leave no stone unturned every year to pave the way for the elite of the bovine world to come and show off their valuable stock and everything that goes with them. There was Flower arranging and Cookery demos for the ladies, so a great time was had by all. Well done all round.
