On Friday night last very pleasant function was held by the Community Council, and friends, at the Wallis Arms Hotel, and was attended by Canon John FitzGerald. A special scroll was presented to Bro. Vincent Corkery, by chairman Councillor Noel Buckley, in recognition of the prestigious Dato title which was conferred on him by the Sultan of Perak following over 60 years work in that region. In accepting the gift he said among other things, that to be lauded by your own is the sweetest gift of all. In spite of his advancing years Bro. Vincent has already returned to continue his work in Asia .
