IRD Duhallow will host their annual conference in conjunction with the Duhallow Women’s Forum on Friday  2nd December, entitled “The Role of Rural Women in a Recession – A Conference in honour of Nora Herlihy – Credit Union Pioneer” Guest Speakers on the day include Orlaith Carmody former RTE Journalist and director of Mediatraining.ie, Nicole Byrne founder of 11890 Ltd. also we will be having representatives from the Credit Union Movement, UCC and IRD Duhallow. In addition and importantly at this event Jimmy Deenihan TD & Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs will launch “The Origins, Ethos and Evolution of Co-operative Credit in Ireland – Celebrating the Centenary of the Birth of Nora Herlihy”

Following the lotto draw on Sunday night the Town Development Group held their draw with fine prizes to be won.   First prize of a 32inch flat-screen TV went Niall O Brien, Ballydaly, Second prize of a monster Christmas Hamper to Eileen Kiely, The Bridge and a €100 cheque went to Denis Healy,
Church St.

The towns shopping spree goes on all this week, with lots of Christmas gift ideas in the shops and €1,500 worth of vouchers to be won.

St. John’s GAA end of Season

St. John’s GAA hosted an enjoyable end of season get together in the Wallis Arms Hotel Friday night last, where all concerned viewed 2011 as a year of progress that came close to landing silverware. Players, team management and club officers took time out to enjoy a social evening and look ahead optimistcally to a new season.
