Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this  cold and wet Tuesday morning.

A very large crowd attended the public meeting which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Thursday night to discuss the proposed changes in our ambulance services. Among those who attended were, Fr. Jack FitzGearald PP, TDs  Aine Collins and Michael Moynihan  Councillor Timmy Collins and Councillor Noel Buckley who chaired the meeting as Chairman of the Community Council. Following talks by the politicians there was a considerable input from the floor and  the bottom line was that  all the concerns of the people would be taken back to the Minister and a follow up meeting will be held in two or three weeks. Death Notice: Margaret Reen

REEN (Millstreet, Co. Cork and Knockeenduve, Killarney) – December 5, 2011 (peacefully) at the Bon Secours Hospital, Tralee. Margaret (Peg) in her 101st year. Dearly loved wife of the late Frank M.P.S.I. Dear mother of Eileen Murphy (Farnanes), Denis (Tralee), Annabelle O’Sullivan (Lyreaoune), Peggy Fox (Rathmore), Derry (Listowel), Frank (Millstreet) and John (Tralee) and mother-in-law to the late Con (RIP). Mammy Reen will be greatly missed by her 34 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, her daughters-in-law Barbara, Marie, Maree and Geraldine, sons-in-law Dan and Tom, her sister Lilly O’Donoghue, sisters-in-law Marie Kerrisk and Bridie Kerrisk, nieces, nephews, nieces-in-law, nephews-in-law, relatives, special carers and many loyal friends. Reposing at Tarrants Funeral Home, Millstreet today (Tuesday) from 5pm to 8pm. Removal to St. Patrick’s Church Milsreet. Requiem Mass tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1pm. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Milstreet. Family flowers only please.”Ni bheidh do leitheid ann arís”

It wouldn’t be Christmas without our legendary Santa Night! For those of you who have not joined us for this yet, you’ll be delighted to know that we are actually joined by the REAL Santa. No fake-bearded imposters at The Secret Garden! Again, there’s no charge, complimentary mulled wine and a general festive and feel-good evening with more fairy lights than you can shake a stick at.

We shall also have a Christmas Market (undercover) so a chance to buy local crafts including handmade soap, candles and jewellery.

Presentation N.S. Children in a Wonderfully Charming Christmas Play

One of the many wonderfully charming scenes during a Nativity Play by the Junior Section of Presentation N.S., Millstreet at the G.A.A. Community Hall on Monday, 5th Dec. 2011. With a capacity audience of enthusiastic parents and friends the happy occasion was recorded on video by Pat O'Hara and Brendan Murphy. (S.R.)
