SUNDAY, 19 FEBRUARY – DINNY MAHER (Tipperary Games Manager), Hurling Workshop for Youth Coaches @ Banteer Astro, 5 – 7pm. Cost €10 each.

MONDAY, 20 FEBRUARY – PAT O’SHEA (Munster Games Manager), Football Workshop for Adult Coaches @ Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk, 7:15 – 9:15pm. Cost €10 each.

MONDAY, 27 FEBRUARY – EDDIE MURPHY (ALL-IRELAND WINNING CLUB COACH), Hurling Workshop for Adult Coaches @ Millstreet GAA, 7:15-9:15pm. Cost €10 each.

Cost is €5 per session. Where a child attends all four, the cost is €15 (one session free). Venue is Banteer Astro, but depending on weather/numbers, we may use an outdoor facility.

Japanese quake hits profits at Alps

The impact of the Japanese earthquake will hit profits this year at Co Cork-based manufacturer, Alps Electronics.

The Japanese-owned firm employs just under 500 people in the Millstreet-based plant, and managing director Brendan O’Shaughnessy said yesterday that the earthquake has affected the company’s bottom line this year.

Accounts just filed by Alps Electric (Ireland) Ltd show the firm’s revenues increased by 10% from €58 million to €64m in the 12 months to the end of March last year. [the above is an excerpt from an article in the Irish Examiner – 3rd February 2012]

Death Notice: Patrick (Patsie) Murphy, Ballydaly

The death has occurred unexpectedly on Thursday, February 02, 2012 of Patrick (Patsie) MURPHY of Ballydaly, Millstreet. Reposing at Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet this Friday evening, followed by removal at 8pm to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ballydaly. Requiem Mass tomorrow, Saturday, at 12 noon. Burial immediately afterwards in Cullen Cemetery.
