Easter Bonnet Parade – Part Two

The Easter Bonnet Parade through Millstreet Town by the children and teachers of Presentation N.S., Millstreet was such a wonderfully uplifting experience for the many spectators who viewed this fascinating display of exquisite colour. (S.R.)

Rallying: Charlie Drake had a tough weekend at the ARC Quit Forest Rally over the weekend, lost six minutes with a puncture, a major oil leak, and rear brakes that weren’t working properly conspired to push him down the field.[see the 5 rally videos below]

Athletics: In the Cork BHAA UCC 10k road race (Sun 1st Apr 2012), two Millstreet runners were running for their employers. Out of a field of 513,  Donal Coffey running for Pilz finished in 8th position in a time of 34:01, and Tony Kelleher, running for the CSO finished in 27th in a time of 36:44. GAA Scór: A huge congratulations to the Millstreet GAA Novelty Act who won the Munster Scór Sinsir final in Tempelmore last Saturday night. They will compete in the All-Ireland Final on April 23rd in the INEC in Killarney. Commiserations to the Millstreet GAA Quiz team who came second on the night, and also to John O’Sullivan from St.Johns GAA Club who failed to progress in the recitation.

Daniel Daniel Buckley

I am the great granddaughter of Daniel Daniel Buckley from Millstreet, Cork. I would love to contact anyone who may know of my great grandfather and his family. When my mother and sister got the chance to visit Millstreet a few years back, they were greeted so warmly, like family.

My great grandfather Daniel was born 3 Apr/May 1872 in Millstreet, Cork. He was apprenticed as a tailor at the age of 6 and was a fully fledged tailor at age 14. He came with his family to the US when he was 16. He died in North Adams, Berkshire, MA on 14 Jul 1936.

Cullen Pipe Band at the Millstreet St.Patricks Day Parade

Cullen Pipe Band had a very full schedule participating in a total of seven St.Patrick’s Day parades this year. First up was a recital in Cullen after mass on the 11th where the juvennile members gave their first public performance with the band. Afterwards the band held a very successful flower and cake sale in the community centre. In the afternoon the band paraded in Rathmore for their annual St.Patrick’s day parade.
