Well done to Willie O’Leary whose horse Clara More landed The Mallow Print Handicap Hurdle tonight at Cork Racecourse, attracting morning support to move from 33/1 to an SP of 12/1. The seven-year-old son of Luso, who had bottom weight in the handicap, travelled well and picked up the lead two out. He quickened away after the last under Adrian Heskin to win by two and three parts from Frankie Flowers who set off in pursuit coming to the last, but made no further headway at 8/1.
Local trainer Eoghan O’Grady has Clara More and he said: “Unfortunately the owner Willie O’Leary couldn’t make it tonight. He’s from Millstreet, Co Cork and his claim to fame is that in 1963 he recorded the highest personal score against Kerry in a 60 minute Munster final.
