Glorious Sun Shines on Kaitriona & Kevin’s Wonderful Wedding Day

Kevin Hickey and Kaitriona O’Mahony were truly blessed with magnificent weather on their wonderful Wedding Day at St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet on Saturday, 21st July 2012.   The Happy Couple left for the Tralee Reception in a state-of-the-art Rally Car expertly driven by Groom, Kevin.   (S.R.)

Very Generous Response to Irish Cancer Society’s Annual Collection

Many thanks to the many people who have so generously contributed to last weekend’s church gate collection in Millstreet  in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.   Special thanks also to those who helped to coordinate the annual collection.   The total collected was:  €1,712.19.    (S.R.)

New Book: The Bard – Seán Riobaird O Súilleabháin

The Aubane Historical Society will be launching their latest book entitled “The Bard – Seán Riobaird O Súilleabháin” in the library on Saturday 18th August at 8pm. The Bard was a myhtical figure in Millstreet’s history and this is the first account of his life. It’s a great story, and is written by his great grandson Barry Keane. Tea and biscuits will be served in the GAA club afterwards.

From the back cover: John Robert O Sullivan made Millstreet famous during the Land War. His fight with the landlords and land agents led to intense repression in Millstreet between 1881 and 1891. At one stage the small town of Millstreet had more than 80 armed police to enforce the law. Another successful Cul camp week

 

From July 15th to July 20th Millstreet juvenile GAA club had 96 children attended cul camp. What a splendid week of sunshine they had! Every child enjoyed the events of the  week along with the coaches and assistants Thursday the kids were delighted to see Cork star Lorcan Mcloughlin. Cork star Damien Cahalanewho was one of the coaches for the week  presented each child with a medal on Friday  much to the delight of the children. Juvenile GAA club would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make it another  successful cul camp.

The death has occurred peacefully at her residence on July 28th of Pauline Moynihan of Dysert, Dromagh, Dromtarriffe. Reposedat at Grace’s Funeral Home, Kanturk. Removal was on Sunday evening 29th July, at 6.30pm to St.John’s Church, Dromagh. Requiem mass on Monday at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to Dromtarriffe new cemetery. Family flowers only.
