The above gorgeous photo is of a sunset at the start of September taken from St.John’s Well on the side of Mushera, with the sun setting over Caherbarnagh and Clara Mountain out on it’s own on the right. It was kindly given to us by Clement Carroll of Carroll Wedding Photography.
The death has occurred of on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 of Kathleen Twomey, (née Sullivan) of Liscahane, Millstreet and Portmagee, Kerry. Funeral Mass tomorrow, Thursday, October 4, at 1pm in St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet followed by burial in Cullen Cemetery.
We like to wish the lads, James, Rebecca And Gary the very best of luck as the represent Millstreet & Muskerry in the National Semi Finals of Impromptu Debating this Saturday night October 6th In Cork Marts Corin Fermoy at 7.30pm, Any support would be greatly appreciated. – from Millstreet Macra
Millstreet Trad for Trócaire: Students from all year groups in Millstreet Community School are gearing up for the Trad for Trocaire event that will be taking place in the school library on Friday 12th October 2012. It will be an evening of traditional music, song and dance, which will be entertaining as well as providing an opportunity to raise funds to help support Trócaire’s work with the poorest of the poor in developing countries.
On the same day the school will be welcoming four visitors from Belgium (two teachers and two lecturers in education) who belong to an organisation called Studio Globo. They will be here as part of the European Union funded project called MDG ‘15 that school chaplain John Magee went to India as part of in November 2011. MDG ’15 focuses on the Millennium Development Goals, in particular MDG 7 ‘Ensure Environmental Sustainability’ and MDG 8 ‘Develop a Global partnership for Development’, and the efforts being made to raise awareness about them through schools in [read more …] “Millstreet Community School: Trad for Trócaire”
1834 John Connor and Catherine Sullivan had a child Patrick in Dromtarriffe parish also had Jeremiah 1837 my great-great grandfather, both Patrick and Jeremiah came to the USA. Patrick was in Savannah Ga in 1860 was a confederate artlillary gaurd at some point moved and lived out his days in Memphis TN. Jeremiah came to New York in 1866 on a ship called “city of Paris”, he moved to South Amboy NJ and lived there till he passed in 1923. John 1839 also baptised in Dromtarriffe parish is rumored to have moved to Australia in the 1860’s.There also may be a sister Johanna b 1840ish Dromtarriffe also … also maybe in 1844 a Ellen O’Connor in neighboring Boherbue. Finally Richard baptised in Boherbue in 1846. he also came to USA and lived till his death in South Amboy NJ.
