Maura Cronin Especially Remembered at Gramophone Circle Presentation Tonight

Margaret McCarron (Bandon and Cullen seen seated here) presented an exquisite selection of music and song on a Christmas theme to a large audience at tonight’s meeting of Millstreet Gramophone Circle in the Canon O’Donovan Centre.    The late Maura Cronin of Cullen who was such a supremely dedicated member of the group was remembered in a moving number of tributes from such members as Maurice Linehan, Nora Burke and Margaret McCarron.   Pictured here, from left – Maura Sheehan, Boherbue who will be presenting her selection for our 18th January 2013 meeting;   Eithne O’Keeffe, Boherbue who gave such a superb presentation at our November 2012 meeting;  Pat McCarron, Bandon and Nora Burke, Kanturk.   (S.R.)

2012-12-14 Sr.Mary Lucy greets a family in their new house in ZambiaMillstreet company O’Flynn Medical have sent a lovely gift to Sr. Mary Lucey – who works tirelessly with people in need, in the impoverished town of Pemba, Zambia, a Rise and Recline comfort chair from O’Flynn Medical, recently.

Sr. Mary explains: “I received a wonderful Rise and Recline Chair from O’Flynn Medical and it’s just the best thing I ever had! My work involves lots of time out in the hot sun and standing in hot earth. It’s wonderful to come in and relax, even for ten minutes. I can feel refreshed and ready for another session.”

Pictured at the wonderful annual Aubane Christmas Party held in Aubane Community Centre on Thursday, 13th Dec. 2012.    The evening began with the celebration of Mass by Canon John Fitzgerald, P.P. followed by a delicious meal before the large attendance was royally entertained by the superbly talented local Scór na nÓg team and a host of excellent musicians and singers.  And Santa also made an appearance.   Lots more pictures to follow later.   (S.R.)
