Reposing at Tarrant’s Furneral Home, Millstreet, today, Wednesday, 16 January 2013 from 6.30 pm with removal at 8.00 pm to St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet. Requiem Mass on tomorrow, Thursday, at 12.00 noon followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet. Michael was Sacristan at St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet in the 1960s and early 1970s before going to work with An Post in Dublin. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

The return of Collins?
There’s lots of talk at the minute about Steve Collins coming out of his boxing retirement. He will forever be remembered in Millstreet for his fight with Chris Eubank. Below is the video of that full boxing match from March 18th 1995:

The Great Machinery Show will be held in the comfort of the Green Glens Arena on to-morrow Wednesday and again on Thursday, from 12noon until ten each day.
As usual it will attract keen interest and draw great crowds into the town which will be a welcome boost at this usually quiet time of year.
And the sparkling Bride and Groom show will be held on February 9 and 10th.
IHCPT – Irish Pilgrimage Trust Fundraising Table Quiz – Friday 1st March 2013, Millstreet Community School, 7.30pm
There will be a table quiz on Friday 1st March 2013 at 7.30pm in Millstreet Community School library. The aim of the quiz is to raise money for the IHCPT The Irish Pilgrimage Trust, and to help pay the travel and accommodation costs of three 5th year students from the community school who will be going on the week long pilgrimage to Lourdes as helpers during their Easter holidays. Their names are Katie O’Callaghan, Deirdre Kelleher and Denise Cronin.
