Willie Neenan Memorial Road Race Officially Launched

Willie Neenan Memorial Road Race launched  MILLSTREET Athletic Club  commemorates a great legend of sport on  the inaugural staging of the Willie Neenan Memorial  10km  Road Race on Friday, July 5. The race promises to be a fitting tribute to Willie’s memory and his contribution to athletics over a lifetime. And a great friend, Fr. Paddy Byrne,  former US coach has donated a magnificent perpetual Cup in memory of Willie. For more than 60 years, Willie engaged in competitive athletics, his power packed and consistent efforts impeccably displayed and distinct trails of a man known far and wide. A large ovntry is expected for the road race, entries online cost €10 @eventmaster and €15 on the day. Entries will be taken at the Millstreet GAA Hall. Everyone will get a finishers prize. The programme co-incides with the Millstreet Summer Festival, children races start at 6pm at the Hospital Cross and a walk is underway from 7pm before the big race is up from near the Hospital Cross on Killarney Road  at 7.30pm . The route takes in Main Street, Drishane Road, turning right at Coole Cross for Rathcoole, another right for Killowen onto the Kilcorney road and returning to Millstreet for a finish is at the Bridge near Noel C Duggan’s Hardware Shop.

Uplifting Signs on Wonderfully Colourful Millstreet Approach Road
