Millstreet is First in its Category in tonight’s Anti-Litter Awards

Derry Sheehan of Millstreet Tidy Towns Association just communicated the wonderfully uplifting news that Millstreet has just come first in its category in Co. Cork  Anti-litter Awards.   Sincere congratulations to the many very dedicated people who have helped to achieve such a prestigious Award.   And who knows perhaps that in Monday's All-Ireland Tidy Towns Awards in Dublin Millstreet might receive further uplifting news...let's hope that whatever happens there it will provide inspiring encouragement.   The beauty of Millstreet was projected briefly on "Nationwide" on Wednesday night - The complete feature on Millstreet Country Park will air on RTÉ One's "Nationwide" at 7.00 pm this Friday, 6th Sept. 2013. Camogie: Well done to the Cork Under 16 B Team who defeated Waterford by 4-8 to2-10, to be crowned All Ireland Champions, and especially our own Máire O’Connor and lydia O’Reilly.

GAA: Best of luck to Niall Kelleher from Aubane who has been appointed selector to the Cork U21 footballers next year. Niall has previously been coach for Duhallow Seniors, and Cork Juniors 2010 & 2011, winning the All-Ireland in his second year in charge.

This Sunday all eyes will be on the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final as Cork take on Clare. We wish Mark Ellis the best of luck as he has the chance to bring the first Senior All Ireland medal back to Millstreet since 1973. Result was a draw 0-24 to 3-15. Replay on September 28th.
