Preparing for the Much Anticipated EJC2014 in Millstreet

http://ejc2014.org/images/oculus-logo.pngUltan Sharkey, one of the superbly dedicated Coordinators of the upcoming European Juggling Convention 2014 has been liaising with us in relation to the many preparations for the truly spectacular Juggling Convention event beginning on Saturday, 19th July which will provide a mighty boost to the local economy.  Buying tickets for the event at this point is cheaper than if waiting for the time of the event itself and we also encourage local businesses to advertise in the Booklet details of which Ultan provides below.  (S.R.)

Ultan shares the following very helpful information:

The outline for the week is here: http://ejc2014.org/programme

Details of tickets are here: http://ejc2014.org/tickets

Booklet:

In 2006 when we ran this event we had 2,252 people at it. We expect a larger number to attend this time around. Follow us on Facebook to see the number of people we are connecting to. Most people camp on site and either eat at the few food stalls we will have, eat locally in restaurants or shop and cook themselves, so supermarkets, butchers and restaurants might be interested in advertising with us. There is also a need for things like camping gas and camping equipment, maybe there are hardware stores that would stock these things. Indeed, if there was a deal on a tent that would be comfortable for the full week campoing, many might buy them and leave their own ones at home to save on weight.

I have been in contact with a few taxi people also – we have a deal with Iranrod Eireann so many will arrive by train on the 19th and taxis from the station up to the Green Glens at a reasonable cost would do well I think. The same for returning on the 26th of course. So taxi drivers might like to advertise with us also.

In addition, I surveyed people a while back and most of them intend on staying in Ireland for longer than the week itself, either arriving early or going on an extended holiday for the second week. Any tourism ventures, either in Millstreet or further a field, would have a great opportunity there in advertising their offerings.

The booklet is A5 in size, advertising will be full colour and the deadline for advertising copy is the 1st July. We will need people to have sent us advertising copy before then.

A full-page (A5 148 x 210mm) is €250.
A half-page advert (105 x 148 mm) is €150.

We thank Ultan for this very comprehensive insight into the various preparations.  We shall keep you updated in relation to the many ongoing developments.  (S.R.)
