Jerry Lehane’s Superb Images of a Snowy Square of Bygone Days

We thank Jerry Lehane for these two wonderful images of a snowy Square in the Millstreet of the 1960s or 1970s. We've been trying to read the Posters on the window of McCarthy's Bar - One reads "Whist Drive". And note the VW car outside the Jeweller's Shop. The petrol pumps outside Lucey's Garage are also visible. We welcome the suggestions as to what Christmas it is exactly. Our Museum is being officially reopened on this Wednesday, 14th Oct. at 7pm. Click on the images to enlarge. (S.R.)
We thank Jerry Lehane of Ballydaly and Minor Row for these two wonderful images of a snowy Square in the Millstreet of the 1960s or 1970s.  It was the late Tadhg O’Driscoll who took the truly historic pictures.  We’ve been trying to read the Posters on the window of McCarthy’s Bar – One reads “Whist Drive”. And note the VW car owned by the Healy Family outside the Jeweller’s Shop. The petrol pumps outside Lucey’s Garage are also visible. We welcome the suggestions as to what Christmas it is exactly. Our Museum is being officially reopened on this Wednesday, 14th Oct. at 7pm. Click on the images to enlarge.   (S.R.)
