Dianne from New Zealand Tuning into “Radio Treasures” Tonight

Tonight’s programme from 9.30 to 11.00 places focus on the uplifting response to the recent totally unexpected “Induction into the Irish Broadcasting Hall of Fame”  and we chat about last night’s Co. Mayor’s Reception in Cork.  And tonight also we have a very special new Listener in New Zealand – a great Friend of Russell Murphy who so very kindly arranged the presentation of the truly precious Medal to Millstreet Museum some weeks ago – We speak of Dianne Hansen pictured below with her twin sister when they were in school in 1955 and we  pay very special tribute to their Mum who went to her Eternal Reward some two years ago.  This little feature will transmit at 10pm Irish time (which for Dianne and Russell will be tomorrow morning!)  We also include our “Fascinating Facts” feature. We invite you to a Waltzing Trip Through Ireland….We also include a number of Daniel O’Donnell tracks.    And lots more great music.  Feel welcome to text 086 825 0074 the programme or send a message to the “Seán Radley” Facebook Page.   To access just log into www.corkmusicstation.com .  Happy Listening!

Eily’s update 26th January

eily1

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to  Eily’s notes from Millstreet.

It’s all good news here in Millstreet today with the announcement that our beloved community hospital is to get a financial boost to the tune of almost €4m. We got the news from source, in the form of a written statement signed by our popular local TD Áine Collins, copies of which were delivered to every home.

The great news has lifted the spirits of our people and filled them with hope. Over the years this important facility has been threatened with closure, many times and our people have remained vigilant at all times, always at the ready to object to any decision.   Our Community hospital means a great deal to us in Millstreet, proof of this is the many fundraising events that are held in aid of it every year.

Our own Seán Radley was honoured at the County Hall last night at a glittering event organised by the Lord Mayor of Cork County John Paul O’Shea. To  have our Sean inducted into the Irish Broadcasting Hall of Fame is what we would all want. Since his tender years Sean who struggled with rheumatoid arthritis all his life, left no stone unturned to protect and store the life of Millstreet and it’s people all over the world.

Last nights event was attended by Aine Collins TD. Andreas Moynighan County Council and Lord Mayor of Cork County John Paul O’Shea who spearheaded to program. And Noel Buckley Chairman of our Community Council.

A large number of supporters from Millstreet accompanied Sean Radley. All travelling together on the C.A.R.T. (Carriginma Area Rural Transport)  And as is normal in the true sence of Sean Radley ,he said that he accepted his trophy on behalf of his community, and  all those who helped him in any way with his great work.

Noel C Duggan attended to support the event especially as his long time friend Robert Splain was also a recipient of an award in recognition of his great achievments in the equestrian World.

In all there were seven recipients on the night. The ceremony was followed by some lovely refreshments. Lots of pictures were taken and LVT were there to record the occasion on film.
