Eily’s update – 22nd March

eily1

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir  Cairde and welcome to the News From Millstreet.

Many congratulatons to our own Joanne O’Riordan who did us proud on St Patrick’s Day as Grand Marshall of the mighty Dublin Parade.

The year is moving on the clocks go forward this weekend, and we seem to go from one exciting event to another. This being Centenery Year I suppose adds to the workload of keeping everything in vogue.

The weather in recent times added to the enjoyment of the St. Patrick’s Day Parades. The people of Carriganima had their’s on Sunday (March 20) and as always they didn’t disappoint. It was very well supported and like all such events, it draws communities together. The planning involving many meetings beforehand and the event on the day, which requires every hand on deck to get it right. Many congratulations  Sean and Matt at the pub and all their helpers on a wonderful job well done.

This is Holy Week and Church Services will get top priority in the run-up to Easter Sunday, which is regarded in many countries as being more important than Christmas itself.

On Wednesday we will have the Penitential Rite in our Church, which proved so popular last time. It will be held from 7.30 to 8.30 .Visiting priests will be available for Confessions and the Blessed Sacrement will be exposed.

The Lotto project continues to be one of the most successful and beneficial features of our community. In its 22nd year it is the life line of our TownPark, the local GAA and the Youth Complex. Hundreds of our people of all ages live better lives because of it. In all about 44 people are involved in the Lotto.

Lotto Funding keeps our Town Park in pristine condition ,with new features being added all the time. The setting up of a 24 piece outdoor Gym around the perimeter is proving very popular ,each piece with a tag saying “Funded by the Lotto”. Improvements are always on-going.
