Two of the reasons regularly put forward for the survival of traditional music in Ireland are that the country was not one of the battlegrounds in either of the two world wars, and also that our economy was largely agricultural, where tradition usually lives and thrives.
In a four part programme on ‘Where the road takes me’, John Greene looks at some of the other reasons, like the influences of some of our most talented musicians, composers and collectors.
