Death Notice: Humphrey Lynch, late of Carriganima
Lynch, Humphrey (Free), (Lower Kimmage Road, Dublin and late of Carriganima, Co. Cork). On 21st September 2017, peacefully in Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross. Beloved husband of Joan and much loved father of Siobhán. Very sadly missed by his loving wife, daughter, son-in-law Matthew (Fox), grandsons James, Alex and Dylan, brothers Con and Jerry, sister Katty (Roche), sisters-in-law Kathleen and Eileen, nieces, nephew, relatives and friends and especially Brendan Kidd, Andy O’Grady and all those in the deaf community. Predeceased by his sister Sr Nora. Rest in Peace.
Reposing at Our Lady’s Hospice Mortuary Chapel on Thursday (28th September 2017) from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Friday morning (29th September 2017) to the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, Harold’s Cross arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.30am and afterwards to Mount Jerome Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross.

O’Leary’s Home from the 1800s
We came across the photo below this week and we wonder if anyone recognises the house in the photo. The writing on the photo says “Cornelius & Mary (Williams) O’Leary home in Ireland outside Millstreet County Cork, now owned by McSweeney”. The O’Learys lived there in the mid 1800s. The house is fairly distinctive with it’s double hipped roof and arch above the front door. Any help would be appreciated [1]
Arriving Into View
Arriving Into View is an art project that invited teenagers living in direct provision centres in Cork City and County to work with the Glucksman and practicing artists over a six week period in Autumn 2017.
Throughout the sessions participants engaged in projects that investigated ideas of personal journey. Teenagers explored the processes and techniques involved in communicating stories and messages to large audiences while working with different mediums and artists.
The project invited 15 teenagers (ages 13-17 years) from direct provision centres in Kinsale Road, Glounthaune, Clonakilty and Drishane Castle to work with practicing artists. This was an opportunity for these teenagers to interact with artistic ideas and mediums and to discover their own creative and imaginative capabilities away from their prohibitive surroundings.
The culmination of the project was last Friday’s tonight’s public display of a large scale mural created by the group in Fitzgerald’s Park as park of Culture Night. It will remain on display until October 8th. [read more …] “Arriving Into View”
Eily’s Report – 26th September

We are into the last week of September. The nights are drawing in and it’s that time of year when night classes and hobbies take centre stage. Our Active Retired group are doing trogan work in planning various pastimes for its many members. A trip to Dáil Éireann is on the cards, afternoon tea dances, near and far, plus weekly dancing and other leisure time activities at the Day Centre.
The Annual Mass for the Active retired association will be celebrated on Friday evening next at 7.30 and all are welcome.
Our Community Council are about to hold a public meeting with a view to holding some parish entertainment during the Winter months. In the past we had projects like the Tops of the Parish, and so on. And while that would perhaps not the thinking for now, it gives an idea of what a community can do when challenged. The Public Meeting will be held at a date yet to be decided, so put your Thinking Caps on.
