The talk of the parish at the moment is the Community Talent Competitions that our Community Council have launched. During the winter months it is hoped that everybody will get stuck in and make the long nights more stimulating and enjoyable. Everybody is asked to take part in one way or another. The program is confined to over 16s. Entry fee €20 per group. Prize money €800.
1st prize €500, 2nd €200, 3rd €100, Closing date for entries November 4th. Each group is expected to put on a show or sketch lasting up to 20minutes. It’s open to Pubs, Clubs and Businesses, as well as individuals.

We sincerely thank Colm O’Connor who lives in Rotterdam and who originally hails from Millstreet for so very kindly sharing quite fascinating film footage of the Millstreet of the 1960s. Colm’s father, the late Eddie O’Connor, captured a variety of very interesting scenes with his cine-camera and here we view the footage which includes a Corpus Christi Procession and playing ball on a traffic-free Drishane Road. Among the others appearing on this hugely popular footage: John Coleman, John Lucey and Anthony Forde. On 23rd October, 2017, peacefully in the loving care of the matron and staff at Millstreet Community Hospital, JEREMIAH (JERRY), brother of the late Eileen and Dan, Deeply regretted by his sister Breda (Rathmore), relatives, neighbours and good friends.
Reposing at O’Leary Funeral Parlour, Knocknagree on Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8pm followed by removal to Christ the King Church, Knocknagree. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. [1]
