Annette is Nominated for Kerry Receptionist of the Year

Congratulations to Annette O’Leary from Cullen who has been nominated for Kerry Receptionist of the Year,  but she needs a little help with the online voting:

Hello, I’ve been nominated for Receptionist of the Year through Kerry Connect Hospitality Awards. I feel so proud to be representing Scott’s Hotel, Killarney. I’m originally a local girl from Killarney Town but now married in Cullen, Co Cork. I’m with the company since February 2008, love my job, and work for a wonderful Hotel with great management and staff. I would appreciate if you could vote for me and if you have done so already, thank you very much. Just go to the voting page for the Kerry Connect Hospitality Awards section and vote for me please.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. x

It only takes a minute, so click here to vote and help Annette.

Update 10th October: Annette Won 🙂

Seanie Barrett’s 1991 All Ireland Minor Football Title

In 1991 Seánie Barrett was part of the excellent Cork Minor team that won the All-Ireland Football title, beating Mayo on a scoreline of  Cork 1-9 Mayo 1-7 at Croke Park, on 15th Sept 1991. Seán is in the photo above with his hand in the air, and his goal in the final is in the video below.

A few months previously he and Eoin O’Sullivan had been part of the Cork Vocational Schools Football Team that also won the All-Ireland.

Seán of course went on to have a highly successful boxing career, winning the National Championships, and representing Ireland abroad.

The goalie for Cork that day Kevin O’Dwyer, is now based in Cullen and is one of the trainers for the Duarigle Gaels (Millstreet+Cullen) underage teams.

Cork led by 0-5 to no score and 0-7 to 0-1 after 13 minutes, but Donegal held them scoreless for the next 27 minutes. New Air Ambulance to be based in Rathcoole Airfield

RTÉ news yesterday featured the new Community Air Ambulance which touched down in Kerry Airport, but it never said that it will be based out Rathcoole Airfield.

“We had initially looked at Cork Airport but felt that north Cork would be a better location as it would give us more land coverage. The weather also tends to be a lot better in north Cork than at the airport  as it is farther away from the sea, a consideration we felt was vitally important in maintaining a 24/7, around-the-clock service. There was also the issue of securing suitable hangar space at Cork Airport. For many different considerations, Rathcoole is the perfect location for the service, which we hope to have operational within the next six weeks This will be a real asset for the north Cork region,”
