The students of Millstreet Community School are proud to be hosting a Trad for Trócaire event in the school library on Friday 9th November beginning at 7.30pm. It will be a celebration of traditional Irish song, dance, music and the spoken word. Students from all year groups will have the opportunity to participate and everyone in the community is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free although there will be a collection in aid of Trócaire’s work amongst some of the poorest communities in development countries. We look forward to welcoming you on Friday.

While modern technology has connected us with the outside world, it has also managed us to dis-connect us from the importance and art of conversation amongst ourselves.
On this week’s edition of ‘Where the road takes me’, John Greene meets Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae, an excellent conversationalist in his own right.
His first book is neither political or a memoir, but it does remind us about how we Irish, who are supposed to be top class at the gift of the gab, have abandoned our art.
From his book ‘A time to talk’, Michael relates a story about his cousin who became a whistle-blower, and paid for his good citizenship with his life.
