St. Valentine’s Day 2019 in Millstreet was truly celebrated when the generosity demonstrated to a fundraiser was most impressive. To illustrate this we visited the special fundraising Coffee/Tea Morning at Herlihy’s Centra in aid of Millstreet Day Care Centre – we viewed the teddy-bear/floral display at Supervalu and we observed the many wonderfully decorated windows celebrating 14th Feb. 2019. Bluegrass Gig Coming to Banteer
Multi award-winning Bluegrass artist Kristy Cox, and her band, will play The Glen Theatre in Banteer on May 12th.
Chart-toppin’ Nashville-based Kristy Cox is on quite the roll. Capturing attention with her powerful singing style, youthful energy-infused bluegrass, and song writing acumen, she continues to enjoy radio & television success in both the US and in her native Australia where she’s a multi award-winning Australian Country Music Awards Golden Guitar recipient – most recently she picked up the 2019 Golden Guitar for Bluegrass Album of the Year for early 2018’s Ricochet (see below). Kristy has appeared at major festivals across Australia, Europe and the US, including an official showcase at the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Convention in 2015; she was shortlisted by the IBMA 4 years running for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. Death Notice: Denis O’Brien, Ballydaly
The death has occurred on Monday 11th February 2019 of Denis O’Brien, Ballydaly, Millstreet, Cork. In the presence of his loving family, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. Beloved husband of Helen (nee Dennehy) and adored father to Ryan and Sadhbh. Predeceased by his father John and his foster brother Gerard. Sadly missed by his loving family, mother Noreen, sister Janice (Sheehan), brothers Niall and Aidan, aunt Margaret, uncle Denis and John Joe, sister-in-law Maureen, brothers-in-law Derry, Jimmy and Neily and their spouses Marie and Marian, cherished nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours, work colleagues and a large circle of friends, especially his rally friends.
Reposing at his residence on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm. Removal from his residence on Friday for Requiem Mass at 12pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ballydaly. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu to the Irish Kidney Assocation. “Ni bheidh a leitheid ann aris”.
