Death Notice: Catherine Dennehy, NY at age 102

Of New York, U.S.A. Daughter of John MacNeil and Belle MacNeil (Gillis). Devoted wife to Jeremiah Dennehy. Catherine at 102 was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Jeremiah; her parents; and her siblings, John Archie and Sadie (both in infancy); Belle, Neil Joseph, John Archie; Sarah Agnes “Sadie” MacLeod (MacNeil) and husband Jack, Flora “Mae” MacIntyre (MacNeil) and husband John Dan, Annie MacIsaac (MacNeil) and husband Hugh. Catherine left Brook Village (Nova Scotia, Canada) at a young age to work and study in the United States. Nursing was her chosen profession and she continued on that path for many years. She cared deeply for her patients, with much compassion. She made her home in New York, and married the love of her life, Jeremiah Dennehy from Millstreet, County Cork, Ireland. Together they enjoyed a life filled with kindness. They were as devoted to each other as they were to their faith. She will be missed and remembered for her quick wit, heart of gold, generosity and loving ways towards anyone she met. She was a true gem and great role model to her many nieces and nephews and their families. She will be certainly missed by treasured niece, Mary MacIntyre-Provataris, who cared for her for the past number of years, ensuring that Catherine remained in and enjoyed the comfort of her own home. Her Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 8th at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, Woodside, N.Y. May her journey onward be as fantastic as she was.
