Notice from Aubane Community Alert if you wish to Renew /Join up for the 2020/2021 Text Alert Service the Closing Date for Applications is FRIDAY NOV 27. Renewal Fee is 10 Euro.
Due to the current Covid 19 situation we wont be calling to Homes for renewal of Membership for 2021 so instead you can put the 10 Euro fee into an Envelope with your Name and Mobile Phone Number on it and place in the Post Box next to Noreen Kelleher’s House at Aubane Cross.

“Radio Treasures” On Air Tonight on CMS from 9.30 to 11.00

“Radio Treasures” is on air tonight (Tues., 17th Nov. 2020) on Cork Music Station from 9.30 to 11.00.   We feature our regular items with a splendid blend of uplifting songs and music… tonight we feature a selection of songs and music with lots of variety as well as lots of interesting musings and words of wisdom.   Included in tonight’s programme: 

  1.   Our 10pm feature is a further Virtual Book Launch linking London (Jack Lane) and Ballydaly (Fr. Seán Tucker) regarding John Minahane’s  new publication about a very famous Poet of the 1300s who lived in Ballydaly  “The Poems of Gofraidh Fionn Ó Dálaigh”.   And Breaking News – we shall also be hearing from Author supreme, John Minahane live from Bratislava, Slovakia.
  2. We chat about Geraldine Goggin’s presentation of two fascinating Millstreet related Posters from the 1960s and 1970s.
  3. We celebrate Cullen Pipe Band’s Successes since the official opening of the very impressive Band Room in 2013.
  4. We salute the new American President Elect and Vice President.
  5. We feature Alan Finn’s new magnificent musical collection with his Group.
  6. We hear some lesser known interesting facts about Ireland.
  7. We share Fr. Jim Kennelly’s A.L.T.A.R. approach to Prayer.

Eily’s Report 17th November

 

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome to my weekly report.

Fondest greetings everybody as we embark on a new week, with the hope of a vaccine for Covid19 filling us with new hope and a new determination to keep the spread of the killer disease  as low as possible until that magic formula arrives.  The weeks of our lockdown are passing slowly by, a little over two weeks to go, I think, the light at the end of any tunnel tells us that there is a way out and that’s what we want to hear. le cúnamh Dé

Christmas remains in the balance as far as travel is concerned, but it hasn’t stopped our  business people from setting up their shops and stores and displaying their wares giving us ample time to get to work on our gift list. Christmas decorations are going up in all the shops and their choices of gift ideas has to be seen to be believed. The well known plea to shop at home was never so important. Since last Christmas businesses have been literally shell shocked by  what has hit them in one short year and we must all play our part in helping them to stay afloat  and not only that but to build themselves up to a confidant future.  Thanks to our business ladies we will have Christmas lights in the town  in spite of all the negativity they are forging ahead and asking people to fund them on a voluntary basis rather than asking business people to foot the bill in light of all that they have been through since Covid19  began. Donations are still being accepted and can be handed in to Niamh at Wordsworth bookshop. To Noirin’s Boutique or Catherine at her auctioneering business office, West End. They deserve our support so please give generously.
