Supporting Flags for Our Millstreet Hurling Team

Millstreet Community Council is encouraging all Local Business Premises to display the Millstreet Flag this week in support of the Millstreet Hurling Team that will be playing Dromtariffe on Sunday, 24th Oct. 2021 in Banteer in the Duhallow Junior Hurling Final.   It was in 1963 that success for Millstreet in such a GAA Competition was last achieved.  (S.R.)

Sincere Sympathy to Hannelie and the O’Connor Family

On behalf of the Millstreet Website Team we wish to extend our sincere sympathy  and prayers to Hannelie, to Shane, to Alan and the members of the extended O’Connor Family on the very sad departure of Maurice to his Eternal Heavenly Reward.  R.I.P..   It was Hannelie supported by her beloved husband, Maurice who first established the Millstreet Website providing such a magnificent means  of local and global communication.   Millstreet will forever be hugely grateful for this superb initiative decades ago.  As the years progressed the Website Team grew in numbers and in confidence.  Maurice – forever the True Gentleman – always so wonderfully friendly with such a great smile, supportive, caring, welcoming, a splendid sense of humour and possessing an inspiring strong Faith.  In the world of Sport, Maurice did Trojan work in the promotion of Millstreet Athletic Club oftentimes so spontaneously giving of his time and talents in the preparation, the running and the aftermath of many a great sporting event.   Maurice was supremely supportive of Hannelie’s great enthusiasm as a very keen Cyclist.  He has very clearly enriched the lives of All.  We all feel so very privileged for having known such a True Friend whose magnificent spirit, kindness and happiness brought joy to everyone.   As an inspiring Happy Couple Millstreet is truly blessed that Hannelie and Maurice decided many years ago to establish their home in Ireland – in beautiful Dooneen West. God rest the gentle Soul of Maurice.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.  (S.R.)
