We have just been alerted to a wonderfully uplifting poem by Poet supreme, Francis Duggan which he shared at a time when Brendan Murphy and Jerry O’Riordan featured in their very memorable weekly chat especially about Nature on LTV2 Millstreet some years ago. Mallow Credit Union Student Awards
Mallow Credit Union Student Awards
Mallow Credit Union has long been committed to the schools and students in its common bond. This year, each of the 9 schools in the Mallow Credit Union area of North Cork and West Limerick were approached to introduce the Mallow Credit Union Student Award in their school. All schools chose to be a part of the awards and nine 6th year students were each presented with a cash prize of €500 and award.
Ciara Fitzgerald, Mallow CU marketing manager stated: “Over the years Mallow CU has run an annual Student Draw/Bursary open to students planning to go to into full time 3rd level education. After some consideration, we decided to take a new approach for 2022 and asked schools to nominate a student who showed themselves to be an asset to the school and were involved in improving their local community in some way. We asked that they be a student that acted with integrity and promoted the spirit of friendship, much like the credit union itself. Having now met the students, it’s easy to see why their teachers felt they deserved recognition”. All the students have now completed their leaving certificate, with some going on to study in UCC, CIT and Mary Immaculate College.
The nine 2022 Mallow Student Award winners were: Eva Carroll (Millstreet Community School), Domas Kalesnykas (Davis College, Mallow), Siobhán O’Hara (St. Mary’s, Charleville), Sophie Perrott (Coláiste Mhuire, Buttevant), Eddie Hennigan (Patrician Academy, Mallow), Caitlin Groot (Nagle Rice Secondary School, Doneraile), Aoife A. O’Connor (St. Mary’s Mallow), Kenny Lynch (Hazelwood College, Dromcollogher) & Sam Harmon O’Driscoll (Charleville CBS)
Mallow Credit Union is now able to do even more for students; as well as providing students with the lowest loan rate available in the credit union, they have recently launched their new Current Account and Debit Mastercard. It’s a full-featured, fee-free student account for 16 years+, set up for Apple and Google pay, meaning they can take their credit union with them wherever they go! For more information see www.mallowcu.ie or drop into the Millstreet branch to speak to a staff member.
