Paddy King, Liscahane, Millstreet

The death has occurred of Paddy King, Liscahane, Millstreet, Co. Cork.

On January 21st 2024, Paddy passed away peacefully, in the wonderful care of nurses and staff at Kanturk Community Hospital. Husband of the late Catherine and father of Marie, Caroline, Rachael and Fiona. The proudest grandfather of Ellie Jane, Réaltín, Fia, Eve, Rosalind and the late Daniel.  Predeceased by his brother Tom and nephew James.  Sadly missed by his sister Bridget, brother Jim and sister-in-law Breda, sons-in-law, nephew, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet, on Tuesday from 6pm followed by removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet, at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet.

Eily’s Report – 23rd January

Dia is mhuire díobh go léir a cáirde and welcome to my Report.

The big news in town this stormy morning is that the Lotto Jackpot was won last night. The draw had to be deferred to Monday night owning to the bad weather and our massive Jackpot of €15,200 was shared between Nigel and Tommy Carroll all of the Wallis Arms. The seller was Nigel and he gets an additional €1,520 seller’s prize. We congratulate the winners on their great win. The official presentations of prizes will take place at a future date.

As is the norm when the Jackpot is won nine lucky people win €20 each and they are as follows, Pat and Mike, Keale c/o Ml. Healy. Michelle Lane c/o Sheila Lane, Willie O’Connell Cullen c/o Colemans. Conor Moynihan’s Magnificent Win at 100th Anniversary Prestigious Swimming Event

Conor Moynihan won both the Wetsuit Mile and the River Mile Major Swimming Events this weekend at Sundays River Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa.    The highly prestigious event  celebrated its 100th Anniversary this weekend.   Some 237 men participated in the Swimming Race. How very proud Conor’s Grandparents – Margaret and Michael Moynihan, “Snugboro”, Killarney Road, Millstreet must be of Conor’s truly magnificent sporting achievement.   We thank his equally proud Dad – Niall Moynihan – for sharing this wonderfully uplifting news and also the attached superb selection of splendid images recalling the historic occasion this January 2024 weekend.   Millstreet salutes an Outstanding ChampionSincere congratulations, ConorTap on the pictures to enlarge.  (S.R.)
