“Radio Treasures” Tonight Features Holy Wells & Kiskeam Easter

On this Tuesday – 2nd April 2024 … preceded by “Jimmy Reidy & Friends” with a wonderful programme (no. 89) from the  splendid Archival Series where the focus is on Sherkin Island  at 8pm (the repeat of which one may hear on Sunday night at 10pm) we invite you to also tune into “Radio Treasures” this Tuesday from 9.15 to 11.30pm on Cork Music Station.    At 10.00pm we feature  a very interesting Interview with  people associated with a wonderful Project relating to Holy Wells and we feature musical recordings from Maurice O’Keeffe Traditional Weekend in Kiskeam.  Lots more of our regular items also.   Feel very welcome to contact the live programme by emailing corkmusicstation @gmail.com or texting 086 825 0074 – One may also WhatsApp that number.   Tap on the images below to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Tim O’Sullivan is Grand Marshal Supreme in Staten Island, New York, USA

Timothy O’Sullivan, born in Lyreaoune in the parish of Millstreet, Co.Cork and now living in New Jersey, USA was recently honored as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 Richmond County St. Patrick’s Parade in Staten Island, NY.  He was selected because he was part of the original Parade Committee in 1965, and for his many years of leadership in Irish events on Staten Island.
At the Richmond County AOH Hibernian Ball, held on February 17, 2024, Tim was sashed as Grand Marshal.  His family and friends were there for the celebration. Tim led the 60th parade down Forest Avenue on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024. Congratulations to Tim!

Eily’s Report – 2nd April

Dia is mhuire díobh go léir a cáirde and welcome to my Report.

Fools Day is over and the clocks are put forward and the sun is shining, what more can we ask for? Schools are closed for the week, so let’s all be merry and bright.

Our Easter ceremonies went very well.  A great number of people attended the Penitential Celebrations  on Wednesday evening where priests from other parts of the Dioceses sat in our church to hear confessions.  Holy Thursday evening also drew fine crowd and on Good Friday the Church was all but full for the final story of the Passion of Christ, before the joyous nine o’clock Mass on Saturday night to celebrate the Risen Christ. We had five priests on the alter and the choir excelled themselves, especially in the rendering on The Gloria at the end and the Congregation responded with  a rousing   round of applause.  The priest thanked all those who helped in any way to make our Easter ceremonies the wonderful event that it was.
