Millstreet Community School – “A Celebration of Culture and Inclusion”

The Celebration of Culture and Inclusion is a chance to recognise and celebrate the different countries and cultures that are represented in our school and community.  The evening will feature song, dance, music, poetry and the chance to sample food from many different countries, including Ireland. We will be welcoming a special guest for the event, Dr Manizha Khan.  Dr Khan and her family are originally from Afghanistan.  She is a dentist by profession.  In fact, she was the dean of a dental school in the city of Herat in Afghanistan but she and her family fled to Ireland because their lives were under threat from the regime in the country. Apart from being a dentist in Cork she is also a School of Sanctuary Ambassador and we are delighted she will be able to join us.
Admission is free.  Please feel free to join us for what is sure to be a memorable night.

The death has occurred of Irene O’Doherty (née Mulvaney), Stillorgan, Co. Dublin.

O’Doherty (née Mulvaney), Irene, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin. 7th April 2024. Peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the gentle and compassionate care of the staff of the Nightingale Unit, the Blackrock Clinic.

Treasured wife of Derry (formerly of Clara Road, Millstreet, Co. Cork) for over 60 years, dearly loved mother of Anne and Brian and wonderful mother-in-law to Paul and Aisling. Adored and adoring “Grandma Irnie” to Conor, Seán, Sarah & John. Much loved and sadly missed by her beloved sister Anne, Conor’s wife Shauna, her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends, especially her lifelong friends, the “card” girls.

Reposing at Massey Bros. Funeral Home, Blackrock, A94 X308 this Tuesday, 9th April, between 5pm and 7pm. Removal on Wednesday, 10th April, to the Church of St. Laurence O’Toole, Lower Kilmacud Road, Stillorgan, A94 CY83, arriving for 10am Mass, followed by a private cremation ceremony for family at Mount Jerome, Harold’s Cross.

The death has occurred of Mary Ring, Caherbirrane, Clondrohid, Co. Cork.

Mary Ring, Caherbirrane, Clondrohid, Co.Cork, on April 12th, 2024, in the excellent care of CUH. Daughter of the late Jerry and Maura. Deeply regretted by her loving brother Jeremiah, aunts Josie (Healy), Lizzie (O’ Sullivan), uncle-in-law Billy, goddaughter Sarah, cousins, relatives, many friends especially Anne and Irene, neighbours, work colleagues in Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Tralee.

Reposing in Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet, on Monday evening the 15th April at 7pm followed by removal to St John’s Church, Carriganimma, at 8.30pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon followed by burial in Clondrohid Cemetery.

Scannell (Rylane and Millstreet) On 12th April 2024, peacefully at Mallow General Hospital, Nora, sister of the late Billy, Joan and Kathleen, aunt of the late Martin, Donal and Patrick.
