“Radio Treasures” Tonight 9.15pm to 11.30pm

On this Tuesday – 14th May 2024 … preceded by “Jimmy Reidy & Friends” with a wonderful programme (no. 95) from the  splendid Archival Series where the focus is on A Variety of Guests  at 8pm (the repeat of which one may hear on Sunday night at 10pm) we invite you to also tune into “Radio Treasures” this Tuesday from 9.15 to 11.30pm on Cork Music Station.  Please note that our CMS Website is now back  in operation but there are also other ways to listen to CMS by using the “Radio Garden” App, by the “Tune In” App or by Alexa.   At 9.30pm we continue with Episode Two of our new series on Charleville.    Lots more of our regular items also.   Feel very welcome to contact the live programme by emailing corkmusicstation @gmail.com or texting 086 825 0074 – One may also WhatsApp that number.   Tap on the images below to enlarge.  (S.R.)

The 1982 Munster Regional Trout Angling Championships

The above is a video for the 1982 Munster Regional Trout Angling Championships.  It was my late father Jerry Sheehan of Liscahane who organised the staging of the event which was normally held on the river Suir.

There are many anglers in this video from Millstreet some of whom are long deceased  and were indeed some of the best anglers in the country back then.

The competition was won on the day by local man Pat O’Sullivan of Bolomore,  Rathcoole.

It certainly brings many memories back to me and I am quite sure that it would do likewise for family and friends of the people seen on the video.

Eily’s Report – 14th May

Dia is Mhuire dióbh go léir a cairde and welcome to my Report.

Fondest greetings everyone and I hope you’re allenjoying the beautiful weather. There was a host of fixtures planned for the entire weekend, from Darkness into Light, First Holy Communions, Vintage Run, Dancing at the Wallis for our ARA and their friends from other Clubs,  to name but a few. Plus the lovely weather for others to make plans of their own.  During the previous week our farmers were busy gathering in the silage, following all the weeks and months of rain and others getting their turf cut, all making sure that the coming winter will  be good for both man  beast.  I trust that all who had a good and successful time will give thanks to the Good Lord for his wonderful gift of fine weather that made it all possible.
