“Radio Treasures” Tonight 9.15pm to 11.30pm Features Kilmichael, Mallow & Derrinagree

On this Tuesday – 25th June 2024 … preceded by “Jimmy Reidy & Friends” with a wonderful programme (no. 101) from the splendid Archival Series where the focus is on Various Artists  at 8pm (the repeat of which one may hear on Sunday night at 10pm) we invite you to also tune into “Radio Treasures” this Tuesday from 9.15 to 11.30pm on Cork Music Station.  Please note that our CMS Website is now back  in operation but there are also other ways to listen to CMS by using the “Radio Garden” App, by the “Tune In” App or by Alexa.   At 9.30pm we meet with the many Pipe Bands in Mallow marking the Centenary of Mallow’s Thomas Davis Pipe Band.   At 9.45pm we meet  Michael Fehily and Tim Foley at Kilmichael for Part One of our West Cork Series.   Feel very welcome to contact the live programme by emailing corkmusicstation @gmail.com or texting 086 825 0074 – One may also WhatsApp that number.   Tap on the image below to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Eily’s Report – 25th June

Dia is Mhuire dióbh go léir a cairde and welcome to my Report.

The wheel of Millstreet rolls on and work on preparing the old cinema at the West End has started in earnest. Even this fine structure needs a lot of work to bring it up to today’s standards for a modern day Gym and leisure complex. Already work has started on the sound-proofing, and the fireproofing. There is a fine residential section to the front which will be upgraded to meet the requirements of any family home of today. Great plans indeed, needless to say funding will be a major factor and the Community Council is hoping for good support in their efforts to provide a first class amenity for our town, which will see them far into the future.

Please keep up the good work in support of our Tidy Towns. The weather is rather dry and plants are in need of constant watering and attention. Come out on Tuesday evening at 7 for the weekly Clean Up and we ask all road users to refrain from littering our roads. The countryside is aglow with flowering shrubs and trees. The white Elder tree is weighted down with blossoms and many people like to harvest some at this time of year to make their own lovely elderflower cordial.

The death has occurred of Joan O’Donoghue (née Hegarty),The Cordolines, Mallow, Co. Cork / Ballymakeera, Co.Cork.

The death has taken place of Joan O’Donoghue (née Hegarty), The Cordolines, Mallow and formerly of Ballymakeera, Co. Cork, (retired Principal of Scoil Ghobnatan N.S. Mallow) who passed away peacefully on June 24th 2024 at home, surrounded by her loving family, beloved wife of the late Finian, dear mother of Máire, Siobhán, Fionán, Stiana and Seán and sister of the late Seán.

Sadly missed by her loving family, brother Liam, sister Gobnait (Cotter), son-in-law Niall, daughters-in-law Steph, Audrey and Bronwyn, Máire’s partner Donal, her adored 13 grandchildren Cilian, Shane, Siún, Danny, Fionán, Méabh, Alex, Muireann, Jane, Lucy, Sheila, Senan and Sadhbh, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, kind neighbours and good friends.

May She Rest In Peace.

Lying in repose at O’Connell’s Funeral Home, St. James’ Avenue, Mallow (P51 HH61) on Tuesday (June 25th) from 5.30pm with Prayers at 7.30pm followed by Removal to the Church of the Resurrection, Mallow.

Requiem Mass on Wednesday (June 26th) at 2pm.

Funeral afterwards to St. Gobnait’s Cemetery, Mallow.
