James (Jimmy) Murphy, Drishane Road, Millstreet

The death has occurred of James (Jimmy) Murphy, Drishane Road, Millstreet, Co. Cork.

Jimmy passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2025 at the age of 88, surrounded by his loving family, in the excellent care of the staff of Millstreet Community Hospital.

Beloved husband of Liz (née Hickey), loving father of Peter, Anthony and Jason and grandfather of Lorna, Clodagh, Jade, Jack and Cathy. Brother of John, Michael and the late Mary Teresa and Frankie. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his loving family, daughters in law Eleanor, Linda and Justina, sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, wide circle of friends and the staff and residents of Millstreet Community Hospital.

May he Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Tarrant’s Funeral Home, West End, Millstreet on Wednesday, 15th January, from 5.30pm to 7.00pm, followed by removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet. Requiem Mass on Thursday, 16th January, at 9am. Funeral afterwards to the Island Crematorium. Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on https://www.churchservices.tv/millstreet

TODD (Boreenmanna Road & Millstreet, Co. Cork); On January 12th, 2025, peacefully, in his 91st year, surrounded by his loving family in the exceptional care of the staff at the Mercy University Hospital, JOHN (SEÁN), beloved husband of Val (née Treacy) and the late Breda (née Power), loving father of Mary, Ann, Jean, Carrie, John, Graham, Nicky, Linda and Tracy.

Sadly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at the Temple Hill Funeral Home, Boreenmanna Road of Jerh. O’Connor Ltd; On Wednesday (January 15th) from 5.00pm to 6.00pm.

Requiem Mass at 11.00am on Thursday (January 16th) in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Ballinlough. Funeral afterwards to St. Michael’s Cemetery, Blackrock.

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland Social Club in Macroom

I am looking for support to promote the Macroom Social Club which is open to those living in mid Cork.  Our Social Club is a warm and welcoming space for people living with dementia, their families, and carers. Come along for:

 Tea, coffee, and biscuits

 Singing and fun activities

 Support, connection, and shared experiences

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet others in the community, access helpful information, and enjoy a joyful and relaxed atmosphere.  Those who are not living with dementia are warmly welcomed also.  It is a lovely 2 hours of chat, activities and just getting out of the house!

We would love more people to come from Millstreet and would greatly appreciate your support in promoting this monthly event.  It is on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

It’s all about making connections, sharing laughter and creating memorable moments together!
