Magnificent Video Celebrates Cullen Pipe Band’s 80th Anniversary

Timmy Visiting from NY

Delighted to welcome past member Timmy O’Sullivan Lyreaoune Cullen/Staten Island, and brother to Geoffrey O’Sullivan (also an ex-member) to the hall in Cullen last evening. Timmy popped into see us as he is home from NY on holidays. Pictured here under the drum played during his time with the band.  Band members were treated to a tune on the tin whistle from Timmy (make sure the sound is turned on – bottom right of the video)

Cullen Pipe Band play at the Rod Stewart Concert

IRD Meeting in Cullen Pipe Band Hall

IRD Duhallow will be conducting a Community meeting in Cullen Pipe Band Hall on Thursday 2nd May at 8pm. The meeting will involve a series of short presentations and a group workshop to understand the challenges and opportunities in the area. The knowledge gathered will help inform future planning for our programmes and the area at large. These are the last in the series of community meetings that IRD Duhallow has ran across the area over the months of March & April. All members of the community are invited to attend a meeting in their locality which will be attended by representatives of IRD Duhallow Board and Staff.

Cullen Pipe Band playing at the Marconi Centenary in Ballybunion March 19, 2019 Joined in the recording by Princess Elettra and her son Prince Guglielmo Giovanelli Marconi. On the 19th of March 1919, the first Est to West Trans-Atlantic voice transmission was made from the Marconi Radio Station in Ballybunion, Ireland to a receiving station in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada, using the call sign YXQ.

Culture Night in Cullen

Where in Ireland can you be entertained under the one roof by performers fresh from competing in the World Piping Championships in Glasgow, the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Drogheda and the All Ireland Community Games Choir in the University of Limerick?

It’s all happening in Cullen Community Centre this week Friday night Culture night 21st Sep. 2018 8.00p.m. and it’s free admission.

There will be World Class performances from Cullen Pipe Band plus All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil, All Ireland Scór and All Ireland Community Games Choir winners.  Performers hail from Cullen GAA Scór, Kanturk GAA Scór, Millstreet GAA Scór all ó Barony Duhallow, Millstreet Comhaltas, Freemount Comhaltas Crossfields Ceilí band, Boherbue All Ireland Ceilí Dancers, Newmarket among others including the very talented Casadh Ó Thuaidh group and Cullen Music Group. Arrive early at 7.30p.m. to try out the Pipes and Drums.  See you there.

Cultúr á Scaipeadh

Back by popular demand following the success of last year’s super night of dance, music and entertainment, Cullen Pipe Band are hosting a great night of entertainment on Culture night Friday 21 September in Cullen Hall.
Honoured to have, fresh from the World Championships in Glasgow, performances from Cullen Pipe Band Pipers and Drummers.
Singing, Dancing, Music and Story Telling performances from the All Ireland Comhaltas Championships in Drogheda and All Ireland Scór Championships in Sligo plus Munster and County Scór Championships performances will take place.
The local choir from the Community Games All Ireland in Limerick University will also perform on the night.
8p.m. SHARP or arrive earlier to let the students young and old try out the Pipes and the Drums on the night. TEA/COFFEE refreshments.

At Áras an Uachtaráin

Cullen Pipe Band Members, Jane Carmody, Liam, Eamonn and Collette Casey as guests of Ballingeary Pipe Band attended Áras an Uachtaráin and had the pleasure of meeting President Michael D. Higgins on June 29th

The President and Sabina Higgins hosted a Garden Party to highlight the Sustainable Development Goals, and to celebrate the many people who contribute to the lives of their communities in Ireland.

Great day out in Carlow. South East Solos Piping and Drumming championships for Cullen Pipe Band Members Liam Casey 1st beginner piping, Collette O’Connor Casey 2nd Junior piping, Jane Carmody 2nd beginner piping, Con Houlihan 1 st A grade piobaireachd, Aoife O’Riordan 2nd tenor drumming. Also competed in beginner piping Eamonn Casey 4th place.

Switch on Culture Night in Cullen

All roads lead to Switch on Culture Night in Cullen Hall on Friday 22nd Sep. at 8p.m. Celebrate the 2017 All-Ireland and World prizes won by the Cullen Pipe Band at the All Ireland and World Piping Championships, and the outstanding achievements of the local 2017 All-Ireland winners at the Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil. The night will include some lovely local performances, a display of the prizes plus a sample of the All-Ireland winning performances from the following:

Katie O’Sullivan, English Singing Age U12 supported by her mentor Elle
Marie O’ Dwyer
Rena Lynch, English Story Telling Age O18

Crossfields Céilí Band Age 12 to 15, Crossfields Céilí Band Age 15 to 18 and winning for the third consecutive year in a row, the Seandrum Céilí Band Over 18. These three separate céilí bands under the musical genius of their mentor Alan Finn, won in their various age groups. There will also be a performance by some of the outstanding musicians involved.
