Stephen O’Riordan who made the film “The Forgotten Maggies”, has taken it a step further and yesterday was spokesperson for the victims as they seek compensation for their years in the Magdalen laundries. There is an article in today’s Irish Independant on the topic, and there was an item on the RTE News last night which you can see if you click on the still image above (the article starts at 10:15 in the clip).

In yesterdays Sunday Independent there was a long article on the good work done by Millstreet film maker Stephen O’Riordan in unearthing the official confusion as to what happened to many women that were in the Magdalen Laundries, when researching for the film “The Forgotten Maggies”. MORE THAN 16 years after their remains were controversially exhumed from a forgotten corner of a Dublin convent, the 155 Magdalens of High Park Convent are again in the news as the barring of Magdalen survivors from the Redress Board causes uproar.
Documentary-maker Steven O’Riordan unearthed the full level of official confusion about who exactly these women were and when they died during his research for a forthcoming film, The Forgotten Maggies.

Millstreet film maker to jet off to New York Film Academy
BEFORE jetting off to the New York Film Academy, Millstreet film maker Steven O’Riordan will host a special three-night screening of his documentary, ‘The Forgotten Maggies’, this weekend at The Glen Theatre in Banteer.
This searing documentary will be screened on national TV in September but has only been shown in public once before — in Galway during their recent film festival. Since then, however, it has received waves of interest nationally and internationally.
‘The Forgotten Maggies’ tells the stories of Kathleen Legg, Maureen O’Sullivan, Mary King and Mary Collins; four women indelibly marked by Ireland’s Magdalene laundries …
