Sincere congratulations and the very best of luck to the O’Leary Family in their 2021 magnificent new business premises at Main Street, Millstreet.  Also associated with the organising of this year’s highly praiseworthy “Darkness into Light” Walk in aid of Pieta House.
The very same location in 1998 at Main Street when the famous Joe Lynch (of “Glenroe” fame) officially opened the new O’Leary Family Spar Supermarket.   We’ve learned that the exact date was Thursday, 14th May 1998 – the day on which Frank Sinatra died.  (S.R.)

Recalling the famous Millstreet Stamp of 2014 photographed by Photographer supreme, Bill Power. Bill recently presented a magnificent Zoom programme entitled “Discovering the River Blackwater.”
Brian Dennehy and Diana Rigg (both of whom had links to Millstreet) were especially remembered in this year’s recent Hollywood Oscar Awards ceremony – having died within the past twelve months.

We discover a local connection with the Royal Funeral of Prince Philip on Saturday, 17th April 2021 in that one of the Horseback Guards (seen on extreme right) is Tara Kelly whose Grandmother, Kathy Kelly of London and formerly of Clongeel near Kanturk, is a Grandniece of the late Han and Luke O’Keeffe of The Tanyard, Millstreet….meaning that Tara is the Great Grandniece of Han and Luke.   We thank Kathy for alerting us to this historic connection.
