Millstreet FET Adult Learning Centre – Post Lockdown
Millstreet FET Adult Learning Centre is adjusting to allow Learners back into the Centre for Certified courses. All classes that are running online at the moment will continue to do so unless otherwise notified. Please bear with us while we evaluate the safety procedures. Stay safe and well.

In line with government guidelines arising from the Covid-19 crisis, Millstreet Adult Learning Centre remains closed until further notice. Millstreet Adult Learning Centre
Millstreet Adult Learning Centre: All classes are cancelled as issued in the Department of Education and Skills statement. This is effective until 29th March and any updates will be posted as soon as directed on the Department of Education and Skills website. I will also notify Learners directly and put posters on the window for information.

Weekly Classes at Millstreet Adult Learning Centre
Millstreet Adult Learning Centre now has weekly classes running until December 2019. Topics covered include;
- Computer Skills at all levels from beginner to advanced,
- English at all levels including Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking,
- Setting Learning Goals,
- Communicating with Confidence,
- Arts and Crafts,
- Food Choice and Health, and
- Community Singing.

- Digital Media (developing skills in Social Media eg: Facebook, Twitter, Digital Cameras etc.),
- Personal Decision Making,
- Driver Theory Course,
- General Learning (One to one and small group tuition available for adults who would like to build confidence with reading, writing, spelling and maths skills needed for work and everyday life)
- Computer Courses (beginners to advanced classes),
- English Language (speaking and writing in good English),
- Arts and Crafts and Singing.

Millstreet Adult Learning Centre Reopens after the Summer
Millstreet Adult Learning Centre is now reopened after the Summer Break. Classes for the coming term September – December include:
- Digital Media (developing skills in Social Media eg: Facebook, Twitter, Digital Cameras etc.),
- Personal Decision Making,

- General Learning (One to one and small group tuition
available for adults who would like to build confidence with reading,

An Open Day will be held on Thursday 6th September from 10.30 am to 1.30pm in the Adult Learning Centre, Main Street (2 doors up from Aisling gift shop). Tutors will be on site to take registrations, give details about course contents and starting dates and times. If you cannot attend for registration but would like to attend classes, you can contact Marie on 086 7707301 Mondays and Thursdays only. All classes are free to over 18’s on a Social Welfare Benefit.

There are 63 Learners registered with the Centre at this present time and subjects offered include; Beginner Computers, Improver Computers, Advanced Computers, Reading, Writing, Quantitative Problem Solving, Social Media Skills ,Technology, Desktop Publishing, Arts , Crafts and Design and Community Singing. The time-table is on display in the Centre. There are vacancies also for learners who might prefer one to one private tuition. Millstreet Adult Learning Centre is proud to acknowledge the presentation of Level 2 and Level 3 Module Certificates to present Students from Nuala White, ALO with Cork Education and Training Board. Included in the photo are Siobhan Henley (Tutor) and Marie Twomey (Resource Worker and Tutor). The Adult Learning Centre provides tuition for anyone over 18 years who would like to return to Education or up-skill in specific subjects. Open Day at the Adult Learning Centre
Millstreet Adult Learning Centre reopening after the Christmas Break
Millstreet Adult Learning Centre, based in Main Street (2 doors up from Aisling Shop) is back in action again after the Christmas Break.
Classes include:
- Basic Computers,
- Advanced Computers,
- Word Processing,
- English for beginners,
- Advanced English,
- English Reading and Writing,
- Using Technology(smart phones and laptops), and
- Skills for Work night classes for Farmers.
Most classes run between 1 and ½ and 3 hours one day a week, depending on level.
This term, we also have a new programme of Intensive tuition based around Computer Skills that incorporates 6 hours of classes per week for 14 weeks. If you are interested in any of the above mentioned classes, please call into the centre on Monday 16th January or Ring Marie on 086 -7707301.
Classes open to Adults over 18 years, early school leavers, those on Welfare payments, retired people, stay at home mothers/fathers or anyone who would like to upskill. Everybody welcome.

Millstreet Adult Learning Centre is hosting an Open Day
on Thursday 8th September from 10am to 12 noon
at Main Street, Millstreet
( 2 doors up from AISLING gift shop).
Course tutors will be present to explain about upcoming classes and to give information about content of courses, dates, times and necessary criteria. The Adult Learning Centre is run by CETB (Cork Education Training Board) and classes are open to Adults over 18 years and are fully funded. Initial Tutor Training: Millstreet Adult Learning Centre
Congratulations to all the volunteers who completed Co. Cork VEC’s Initial Tutor Training Course in the Millstreet Adult Learning Centre. The training ran from October through to January.
Thank you to all the volunteers that gave up their Wednesday evenings for 8 weeks to complete the NALA approved initial tutor training in Co. Cork VEC Adult Learning Centre.

FETAC Level 3 General Learning in Communications, IT Skills & Maths:
A return to education course will be running in both Millstreet, Newmarket/Kanturk from September 2012. These introduction courses are for people who want to return to education at their own pace while achieving a certificate in individual modules at FETAC level 3.
